The problem we face is the purchased cars running in AM. If we make them illegal then we have a judgement call. I want to keep the AM in BASX and DQ any purchased cars. Trust me when I say it is more fun to build your way up then to win in AM with a purchased car. I have no issue with people buying cars but I want to keep the pro cars in the pro division. That is our challenge. Look for clarification soon.

Easy solution. ON the first series race (or the first time a builder races in a Series), pick a time.
If he is faster than that time, immediately transfer him to Pro.
If his time is over the "bar" on his 1st race, but under on the subsequent races, then just "live with it", but he has to be PRO in subsequent series.

If this rule had been in effect for the ICE series, I would have been moved up, and I would have been OK with it. I only chose AM because of my poor performances in 2014.

Opa, there was a rule like that in place for this series. In the first race, there was only one SS class, all cars ran together. For the second race, if you ran 2.973 or faster in the first race you went to the pros, if you went slower then you went to the Am's. Your fastest car went 2.976 in the first race so you correctly raced in the Am class for the rest of the series.

Too bad that it would be a logistical nightmare to give each car a one run "qualifying lap" before the event to sort the cars even before the first race.
I guess you could enter a full roster of names under both the AM class and Pro class and use the exclude checkbox to sort them after qualifiying?

Yes, but in spite of what happened on the ICE series, I now have to race PRO in all future races. IMHO, that's an OK deal for all. Also, I think the 2.973 as the "bar" was a little too low. If it was higher, it would push a bunch of others up to PRO, thus leaving the AM series for the "newbies" (or those who even though they have been around for a while, haven't picked up on the skills - which was me if you look at my prior year results).

Another way, would be to push builders up any time their "Avg to date" time in that series was beneath the "bar". In my case, the second race would have pushed me to Pro. And that also would have been fair.

Opa, that's not the way I read it. John said: "The classification will reset with every series. All builders must earn their PRO classification every series."
So it would depend on how your best car does in the first race of the next series as it's written right now.

I thought how it was done this last series worked fine. Only thing that needs to change is the cut off time since the track mod effected the times. Maybe also let people choose to race pro if they want to.
