Decided to build 2 new bearing cars for the April race. The car with the Orange wheels is built with the new Goat Boy Products "Velocity" laser cut body. The car with Black wheels is also a Goat laser body but it's just a test body. I am trying to go very narrow to see what I can get out of it. Both cars are using Goat wheels, Goat axles and Boca bearings. Not sure how they will perform but they both were fun builds. The color is color code 51 Sebring Yellow. It is the exact color match of a 1970 Oldsmobile Rallye 350. My father is a drag racer and that is the car he races. This is my way of saying thanks to my dad in my special PWD way. /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

Those are some great looking cars. Nice ideal with the tribute car for your dad. I'm sure he will enjoy it very much. Bravo!

Very nice my friend! A little bird tells me your coming live for the April race.

Yes Joel, I am flying out for this race. I love racing live, and this being the series finally, I wouldn't miss it! Will be great to hang with all you live racers again. See ya in 2 weeks!

Thanks for the comments guys. Always fun to build new cars and get them on here for all of you to see.

Opa, honostly I have found that bearings, whether 5,6 or 7 ball, mean very little in the performance of a bearing car. I use to think I had to buy 50 bearings to pick and find the best 6 for a build. Now I buy (6) bearings and that's what I run. Bearings are produced down to millionths of an inch and I can sure find other parts of my cars that could use the extra attention than trying to find another bearing a millionth of an inch better /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif The bearings John sells have always worked great for me. I recently got a sponsorship with Boca Bearings and thus have switched over to run their products. My bearings are currently 6 ball.

FYI: I have maybe 30+ bearings. I have my own bearing test (i.e. individual bearings). Just this week, I tested all of them individually, after completely flushing them out with fluid and compressed air. I found about 8 that spun way above average, 6 that I couldn't get a decent spin at all (even after going thur the cleansing process severl more times), and the rest about in the middle. For fun, I put the best six in Spyder, then next best in White Lightning, and the balance in a spare car. My earlier spin test proved out, even when I switched the sets from car to car. I.e. the best six were the fastest, no matter which body they were in. Oh yes, several of my bearings were 6's. They tested amount the lower 10.

BASED on my results, I have often wondered, but will never know, what might happen if I were to test something like 150 bearings. (lets see, 150 times 10 dollars each? Oh yeh, out of site except for Billl Gates.

Then I must just have 1 hell of a lucky draw in the bearing pool! Just to prove my point, and not to toot my own horn, I used "un-selected" bearings for all 4 of my cars in the December Man Of The Mountain race and all my cars finished 1,2,3 and 4. So I do not put any worth into the bearing selection process anymore. Bearing cars are all about wheels and alignment!! That's why I love this class. No need to look for the newest secret potion, just build yourself a clean, aerodynamic and properly aligned car. /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif Your spyder car should be right up there with any bearings.
