DFW Side

In looking at the pics in the Zeeb's Speedshop Race thread, it appears that the majority of builders are putting the DFW on the left side (my preferred side).

Is this the case in the other classes? I was thinking about Street Rods again, and how it would be beneficial for the cars to all use the same side for DFW. It would help prevent the cars from bumping each other and/or locking up together.

My DFW is on the left side. That is because I am left handed. I've seen it both ways with other people. It doesn't make a difference. Zeeb is a switch hitter.
lol
He has them on either side.

It's just for tuning purposes. What hand you are is what side your DFW is on. You could be right about the Street Rods though.

Well, maybe not! I'm left handed but I put the DFW on the right side of the car!

I always wondered why right side DFWs were more popular than left.

As a right hander, way back when I first did a rail runner I naturally gravitated toward a left DFW because ... well that's the side we steer on here in 'Merica. All you guys building cars that steer from the right side must be furriners.

You really need to put your DFW on the same side as the guy who sets up the track you race on. 'Cause that's the side he's going to pay the most attention to when he's aligning the track joints! lol!

No fella. You got that backwards. You are running it like the Aussies.

On this side of the equator the water swirls the other way.

It's true it could go either way but in a typical situation it's right for right and left for left. I honestly don't think it matters. I've thought about building a car with a left DFW but that would just throw off my tuning. lol

I am right handed and I prefer the DFW to be on the left because then the car will steer to the right. Ah, it all makes sense now!

I also have cars with the DFW on the right. It messes me up to try to increase or decrease the steer and stage them for the first couple of runs.

Just my 2 cents.

I wonder if it could effect/ have effect on traffic. I can't remember where I read that first but it was on this forum.

I would think it would depend on the guy in front of you as to how his/her car is built.. Is it pushing air to you?? or is it pushing it to the other side and allowing you to draft??

Hey Papa V,
Why is it that I am always pulling up the rear behind him/ her in these imaginary scenarios?
