Hi Everyone,

First, want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has taken the time to help me, guide me and generously share their knowledge. You've made the 2019 Pinewood Derby a magical experience for my kids and me.

We had a great time at Districts. The track was 6 lanes, 44 races, so if my math is correct, 244 cars in the speed division.

My daughter, a Tiger Cub, placed second overall! She is very happy. Again, you guys made it possible for that, you made it possible to see her smile and hold a trophy.

I placed 1st overall in the Akela (adult/sibling) race. I got to see my car jump 4 inches in the air, sail for 12, and land on the track (with a sickening crack) Dukes of Hazzard style. It wasn't that cool at the time, but looking back is awesome and hilarious.

We look forward to next year, with a clear goal of 1st and 2nd place for my daughter and son! Next year is my son's last year, so we will work hard to make it a great one.

Now all that's left until next year is to learn more, improve and race more in the Pro league.

Your next league car needs to be the General Lee!!!
Just seeing this thread. Somehow I missed this one. Sounds like success.

Haha, yes it does! I'm thinking of just renaming my cars for league racing each month after whatever folly or tragedy strikes at that time. It was a thing of beauty though. Wish I had a video of it. It was sweet. I was shocked when I actually won! Still not sure how I pulled that off.

Yeah, I snuck this thread in under the radar. Just wanted to mainly thank everyone for there help. We are happy with the results and will keep working hard to improve. We have a few more years of eligibility, so hopefully one of these years we will win it all. Spending time with my kids is, of course, the best part and more than I could ever ask for. But would be cool to win the whole thing!

If they ran 44 heats, that would mean there were 44 cars if I understood what you wrote correctly? If there were 244 cars then it would take 244 heats for them all to run and that's true whether the track has one or eight lanes if they run once in each lane.

Congrats on the placing!

Confession: I am HORRIBLE when it comes to math/real-world problems like this! They make my brain melt.

I've thought about this a lot, and think you are absolutely right! That makes much more sense. There seemed to be more than 44 cars, but that HAS to be right.

Our Pack had 100 cars running, but the vent was broken into separate races and we didn't have to be there the entire time, which was nice. Went much smoother even though there were more cars.

And thanks! It was such a cool honor to place. I would have been happy no matter what, but placing was definitely an honor.
