Posting pics of 6 cars I raced at my local District race. The last 2 pics are from a money race at a bar in Chicago last month, wanted you to see the finish contraption... My 4 inch SSI Decals car is something new and was fun to build, something different (4 inch max length, 5 ounces), it ran a 3.01 and got the jump off the gate over all cars and stayed right there with my fast cars all the way until the last few feet. The car with blue wheels had the fastest time of all 6 cars (2.9564) on a 37 foot track.

Awww man! That is awesome! I read about that bar online. A bit ticked that we don't have something like it here in NYC.

How was it?

Were the folks all dressed like bikers, or was it more of a scout father type of place?

Was it a car crowd?

Is it just for bragging rights or do you get a free drink outta it?

Thanks

This is a pic of the Chicago bar race. There were a lot of dad's that brought 7 year old kids to the race and didn't make them stay away from the track. There was one guy that had a full race car with 4 gee fenders and John's old LA1 car. You staged your own car and you're out after one loss. No rules except no motors or fan devices, so any weight any wheel, etc... I raced the Red Bull SP car and it took a beating in the stop section and dodging kids running around. I won all the way to the championship race and lost to the previous year winner which had a 6.5 ounce car. I'll build something faster for next years race. If my SP car didn't quit on me in the championship race I would've had it.... No free drinks, cost $20 to enter.

Awwww man! That looks like such fun!

Kids in a bar??

Otherwise, it looks like my kinda place.

Probably heavier next year, right?

Who owns LA1 now?

Can you assault the car next to you?

Thanks,

I agree, why bring kids to a bar.......they annoyed me bad, running all around in the way etc.... I don't know who owns LA1 now, I recognized it right away, so it's somebody familiar with DD4H and this board. Next year I'll either run a heavier car or run an Eliminator car built to run fast and be durable. No you can't assault the car next to you, but over half the cars were basic scout cars. One fast car had a stack of washers on the rear and almost beat me. I'm going to suggest to the bar for next year, no kids allowed unless 21 years of age :-)

Yeah. Seriously!

The kids could get trampled in the stampede of derby groupies! LOL!

Yup.

It has to be built like a dune buggy. Once I get a few drinks in me, I bet my staging will do more damage than the stop section.

I wonder about RR wheels/ Awana in this scenario.

How many cars raced overall that day?

Sorry MXQuad, I am just very curious about this place.

Yes D4D a bearing car would definitely win if it can hold up to the abuse and not break a wheel. I'm leary of risking one of my expensive bearing cars. No need for an extension on a bearing car, nothing there would be close to it.

Thanks GravityX on the props!! Looking forward to racing the NPWDRL championship again live.

I was just looking over the pics again and noticed the stop section appears to be raised to the level of the track. Any cars get damaged by this set up?

I caught that in testing and lowered the entry and raised the back. My SP car still flew off the track a few times. How my car got damaged enough to make it stop during the championship race. They need a better finish, longer stop section, and ropes to keep kids away from the track (or keep kids at home as this is held in a bar). I plan to have an Eliminator car to win it next year.
