First attempt at a ladder car ...

Thanks man. It sure was a fun race to watch. The wife, kids and I watched it on the tv with the Firestick. Can’t wait for May’s APR race!
Yep, we definitely need all the help we can get. Make sure to post what ya got going. I would love to see/hear how you do your body.

Working on it sloooooly. I put in 120 hours over the last seven days as they were short at work. So, no progress on the car. However, that does NOT mean that I have not been thinking about it. ;)

I made a couple more decisions about what to try, so I should be moving forward. I am hopeful that I will be done before the next race. Adding to things that need to be done, TBR Jr. wants to get started on his first ladder car. I don't want him to loose interest, so maybe after church tomorrow we can start on his?

Laserman,

Am impressed with your slick ladder design. May I ask what kind of times it clocks.

I saw some videos of sportcar designs (wide body covered wheels) that were still able to go sub-3s. What’s your views or experience with those car bodies?

I prefer to use variuos body designs depending on what my goal builds are and class. I like the long grain ladder/I beam builds with 1/64 birch ply topper blended paper thin with it a poly gold tape for underside aero.....all those combined techniques I feel are pointed at getting as much weight to the rears while providing a very ridgid and stable cross body ride. I also appreciate a solid form with only the weight package removed and covered.
