My son and I are building a rail runner for his pack this year. We got a little aggressive with sanding the dfw side of the car and cut in about 1/8 of an inch vs 1/16"-3/32" which I understand to be the best practice. Should we be concerned?

Also make sure your front wheels clear the rail with a small gap clearance. If its too tight you can add wood to that area such as basswood sheet or even a trimmed Popsicle stick.
