Ok, last night worked on the "Coffin Nail" car. Things were going pretty smooth right up to attempting to bend the axels with the stupid Derby Worx Axel Tool & Rail Rider Tool. I don't know really if it's the tool itself or me, but unlike their example video I needed to hit the silly thing insanely hard to get the Axel to bend.

I also lost a good size chunk of thumb to the damn thing - ouch- thank goodness I had Super Glue handy to glue my thumb shut.


On a more positive note I got the axels bent and installed and tested the car on my "tuning board", so here's a little video of that. More photos to follow in next post.

Next up packing the cars.
So after reading some do's and don'ts on how John and the crew would like cars packed, I came up with this idea. LABLE the crap out of it so there no questions about anything, lol. And yes, even the bottom of the car itself is labeled.

Here's a nice shot of the (mostly) finished cars "Coffin Nail" and " Invader". Unless these run way better than I expect, I'll likely retire them after finishing the details I didn't get to. But, im already planning my next car. Unfortunately I don't have a regular paycheck being self-employed and excessively poor, so it may take some time to gather the parts and proper tools to build a better car. Another shot of the cars. Ok, more later I hope.

Due to yet another goof I didn't have time to do the top label for the second box.

Ok, so I managed to make a minor goof printing postage labels for my shipping box.
I set the date for today, not Monday ... Meaning I had to pack everything and ship it today or the postage would expire before Monday and I'd be out $30 plus dollars.

So shoved it all in the box and headed to postoffice. Cars may or may not be 100% race ready as I didn't get to do and run in or really graphite the wheels well, not that I even know how to do that right.

Anyway, I'm officially in the race now, come what may.



My best guess is I'll break four seconds .... If someone would throw the car for me.

I'm going to start saving my pennies ( I don't have a regular paycheck) and start working on a list of proper tools (the small ones, Axel pliers and such) as I've started designing my next car already to correct the errors I made this time.

FYI, USPS postage does not expire on said date. The farthest you can post a date out is three (3) days from the day of print. Postage is still valid until the label is used.

I was in a hurry and saw something about "Expires at" just as I hit the button and then couldn't read the rest.
Instant panic, so I made tracks to the postoffice.

Lesson learned.

I am in a small 2 bedroom apartment with my kids and i picked up a tabletop drill press so i can put it away when not using it. looking to get a small band saw as well. Just need to clean a little room in the closet to put them away when not in use

One bedroom, two people, no space in closet and a less than understanding wife when it comes to power tools in the living room, lol.

No electrical outlets in my storage unit work room.
And yes, I've looked at every possible way to put in an outlet of any kind, none will work.

If I had a place to store them (band saw, drill press) and if they where on wheels, I can access electricity two floors up in the trash room. Which is what I did with my Dremel tool to route the body.

Even so, I can't afford large power tools, so it's kinda a moot point. So overall I think pre-cut, pre-drilled blocks are more cost effective for me at the moment.

But I'm not complaining, I've worked with less.

Ha, she likely live close by. Can't move, wife won't sell and isn't ready to retire. I don't think I can run a cord two floors up and the length of the building to get to the closest common area outlet /images/boards/smilies/frown.gif
