Just signed up today, already found some great information here. Thanks for that! I have an upcoming work hosted derby at the end of February. The rules seem loose and a tad vague. What's your thoughts?

Gravity powered only
Must use wheels provided in kit (BSA kit)
No Weight Limit
Height Limit: 13 cm
Width Limit: 6.5 cm

Is there a length limit? That's where you'd get a lot of potential energy.... Plenty of other things you can do...

Yep, no length limit, I questioned that too. I thought it was a typo at first.

If you know what track you'll be running on I'm sure someone here can get you a "start pin to top of hill" measurement so you can max out on length. I don't see where you have to run the axles from the kit (just wheels) so you could bore the kit wheels for bearings and true them. Then you can safely run more weight.

+1 Bracketracer, maximize car length from start pin to back-most end of track. Bearings always help!

Oh, and I'd cut the wheels down to thick razors to reduce the tread flex at the heavier weight.
