How do you pull axles?

A rudimentary, but perplexing question (at least for me). I am having trouble pulling my wheels and axles out of the car after I have pushed in the wheels and axles into the body. The clearance between the wheels and the body is so close, I am having trouble fitting anything under the hear of the axle. My clearance is .020.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Ah, dental floss! There you go, I knew that there was a simple answer that I was not thinking of. Thanks!

Iceman Showed Me This Way, beforeEaxles are inserted measure and drill small hole where the end of the axle will be THen You Can Use Small Screwdriver To Push Axle Our Enough To Grab

I would also slot the head of the axle, think K-House groove, to help aid the removal by using a screwdriver. Twisting the axle while tugging/pushing the axle will ease removal.

Once you can see the axle end and think your set, add a drop of CA. Not only does it lock it in place, it makes the wood hard enough to push against.

Something I fought for a while was not reinforcing the front and back of the axle but finally succumb to it. Now I use (hmm the name??) Hobby town has it, its like Veneer, maybe 1/32 and strong as heck. I epoxy a strip to the front and back of the Axle and then I never have problems! The car can be used over and over and redrilled many times over.
