how to apply oil

FoOk I Haven't Got The Dvd Yet, That's On The List For Next Order (Wife Already Thinks This Is Out OfControl) Anyways WantingTo Enter A Npwdrl Race This Month And Haven't Done Oil Before, I Read Two Drops PEr Axle Then Install... ?Is DOes One Spread The Oil To Achieve Even Coat To Shaft And Head (Of The Axle, Get Your Mind Outta The Gutter)

just put one drop per axle is plenty..it will spread out by itself

Is there a preferable spot on the axle to place that single drop- or does either side of the groove work because the oil will spread out evenly?

I put in towards the inner side of the groove so when the wheel goes on it spreads it.

ON the dvd its two drops per axle and john you used a lot of oil to. It runs off the axle. Things have changed since then. The spray and the amount of oil.

Nothings changed except for Jig a Loo. I use more than one drop and it usually drips off of the axle just like in the DVD. /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

Working on a car for September AM SS class. I have some Jig but in the video John is using a Blue can of Teflon. Is this better than the Jig for the axles? I did see at the end Jig was in "bad" products. Do I still Jig the wheels (after a 15 min. wait)? All my previous builds have been graphite, first oil car.

no from my understanding jig is the best, the dupoint chain teflon spray is next to it but slower, the reason jig isnt on the video is unless its dry on the axle when the wheel is installed it will do more damage than good

Jig the axle, not the wheel. Wait 15 min to insert the axle in the wheel.

What people are failing to tell you is.. The amount of oil you use , verse axles size will vary... Bigger axles less oil... Small axle more oil.thats what I've learned from testing . But different things work for different people

Thanks, that is interesting. Never gave axle size and amount of oil used a thought.
