How to run MA wheels?

Well I tried running MA wheels on my youngest sons car in the pack race and just couldn't get them to pop! The 1.4 I put on my oldest sons ran 2.945 was his fastest and I believe the MA was only running 2.96/7 (cars where setup Identical except the wheels)
I bought the spacers from John, reversed the rear wheels and put the smaller part of the spacer outward toward the wheel. I glued that to two other delron washers to get them out far enough. Now with the smaller part of the spacer facing the wheel it looks as if the larger segment would hit the wheel. so I filed it down a little.
Now i didn't sand the tread at all and that car was loud! (no time) Could this be the problem?

or am I missing something?

im interested in what grit or series of grit you recommend, and just do it on a q-tip or derby worx/revel mandrel?

I just put the sandpaper on a surface and turn the wheel on it with light pressure to make sure the bumps are clean.

Unless the MA rules changed from last year, you had to keep the decorative bumps on the tread. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THESE WHEELS AS THEY ARE FRAGILE AS F$&*! Learned that the hard way...

That's right... the fluting has to be intact -- which is every dot along the circumference of the wheel...

Do the nitros wheels have the flutting ? only reason I ask is we can run the nitros in our pack race. But not the MA because of the washers and spacers. Or do you have to run the nitros in reverse as well?

The Nitros are great wheels to run... they have all markings intact inside and out... not exactly sure why you would run them reversed?

The MA wheels say you must use washers and spacers. And run in reverse on the rears. I wasn't sure if the nitros had to be run in reverse on the rears. Thanks you sir for the info.

where is everyone putting the bend in the front axle with the hub cut off? are you bending where you would normally (with hub intact)then using spacer between bend and hub or are you bending at the edge of the ma wheel hub then using a spacer after the bend to keep from wheel touching body?

You don't run the DFW reversed. You want the wheel to ride on the outside edge of the wheel where the sidewall is. Since the DFW is positive canted the wheel rides on that edge when installed normally.

understood but the hub is still cut down requiring a spacer to keep the edges of the wheel from rubbing the body I'm asking as to where people run the spacer on which side of the bend
