I think I ruined a wheel

My qtips usually get a little dirty looking. If they weren't removing some plastic it wouldn't really be polishing anything.

Having said that it can wreck the bore spinning too fast and melting the plastic.

I have seen some black residue on the stalk before. But like Kinser said, check your bore under magnification to see if it's ruined.

Does anybody gauge their bores before and after polishing? What's an acceptable amount of enlargement?

Also, what's the least expensive route to get a pin gauge set of the size you'd want to check wheel bores?

I don't gauge them and anything larger than what's stock would not be acceptable.

+1 I thought the same thing I proceeded and at the end they looked fine and ran well.

I would be worried about causing damage trying to fit a pin in that may be too tight.
