Is all this even needed?

If you think it is overkill to use the best stuff possible and teach your kids & grand-kids what makes a car fast- take a look at the names of the cars in this District final last year. I do not know what Pack the other racers came from, or if the names were not the result of new knowledge , but my Grandson Jordan used the Silver Bullet, something better than Blue Lightning, and some Red Rocket. Whatever gray Blob is might be useful. I do not think I was the only one using DD4H goodies. I marked out other names, but I promise I did not photo-shop in the car names..

That's funny and a great picture! I think the gray blob is tungsten putty but cut rate graphite works as well.
ok

Sorry, I overlooked the names when I saw the winning time. How long was that track? 21 seconds to win, that is a long race.

8 runs and they drop the slowest and then show total time, so just over a 3 sec. 42 ft Best track run average. Track might not be level at all.

Funny.

Not to get off topic but is it just me or is the scale speed higher then the NPWDRL usually shows? I believe they are both the same software. I noticed more then a few scout race videos with high scale speeds compared to the league but the actual times were still slower.

The software asks for your track length, in order to calculate scale speeds. I have a feeling that the Leaguers have a much better idea of their proper track specifications than your average Scout Pack.

If the Pack entered "42 feet" as the length in the software, that would explain the speed being off. A 42 foot Besttrack is actually 36 feet 10 inches (at the middle timing hole).

Makes sense. I guess a lot of scout pwd coordinators may not know the exact distance and just enter the total track length. Never noticed that the middle timing holes cut the timed distance by that much. I kind of figured it was around 39-40' and the stop section wasn't counted in the 42'
