John says we can "groove" the axles in any way. I'll put one on the end of my steer axle.

You can't buy needle nose pliers in Missouri. It's the law......

Yep I remember my early days in the UFC. Took some pounding and gave some as well. Get me on this list. I want to spank all of you.

I`m down. I watch UFC and Pinks all the time. I like the kit idea with zinc axles and max v wheels. Do all wheels have to touch and be adjacent from each other? I like the no fenders and graphite only, I have an idea how to enforce the graphite only. If we could somehow enforce the lead only it would keep cost way down, maybe 2 pre molded lead weights stamped with a symbol that must be visible on the bottom. Also if we are gonna model this UFC style maybe we should name our cars after our favorite fighter on a first come first serve basis. I wouldn't be apposed to using fighter names outside of the UFC, even old old school. Or after martial arts moves.
My fighter is Anderson Silva.
My move is flying juji-gatame or flying arm bar.

Even though I have been poking fun at the rules in this thread, I think John's and QuickTime's thoughts on the rules are good and will produce some fun racing. I think what John intended is exactly as he listed:

Rules:
No cutting the wheels in any manner. Bore polishing only.
You can groove and polish the axles anyway you like but the tip of the blunt end must be visible.
Any wheelbase.
Standard dimension and weight rules.
All 4 wheels must be used and mounted in whatever position you choose but the car must roll on supplied wheels. All wheels must spin on the supplied axle.

I am sure everything else like wheel placement, type of weight, type of lubrication, fenders or not is legal to add some creativeness to the build.

I will take Pat Miletich since he is from my hometown/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Now I am
eeek

Would have to do a random seed the first time I would think or we can do it new style with just one head to head matchup if it is pinks.

Of course you can. Plenty of room for creativeness.

I need to use more emoticons!

By old UFC style do you mean a bracket system like this? and the cars drawn in randomly? seeded?

I don't want a lot of rules. I want something that you guys can have fun with and get creative. The main disadvantage for people is the wheels and other than that I think anyone can build a fender or mount a wheel wherever they think it would function the best.

We could make it real interesting and say NO GUIDE PINS. That will increase the risk/reward thing.

You could use the top 50 to get the seed placement then anyone not in the top 50 would be placed by who registers first (51) and so on. I think DD4H should sell the kits with the wood wheels and axles then the rest would be up to the builder like drilling axle holes polishing axles and prep on the wheels. Make this a race of who can prep and tune the best without worry of who has the best products. JMO

I'd still be a fan of slots, and lead as equalizersor . Or a set wheel base with plenty of room for creativity, but, I feel I'm in the minority. Also, If raced brackets like suggested on Pinks deal, as I'm sure everyone has already realized, only the first round losers would lose "a" car.

Brackets, sound like something fun for March madness.

On a separate note but along the same rule line idea. Please dont
smack
me around for this thought. Just for fun race. Probably not for everyone. Just once a year thing

Have scout dad's send in there worst rules, or most restrictive, lame, whatever. John or someone picks a set and we build and race to it.

I guess it would show scout dads how to work it. It may be more of a headache than anyone wants to deal with.
