Low Cost Pinks Race

I really like the build rules as stated by "the godfather", including no guide pins.
No cutting the wheels in any manner. Bore polishing only.
You can groove and polish the axles anyway you like but the tip of the blunt end must be visible.
Any wheelbase.
Standard dimension and weight rules.
All 4 wheels must be used and mounted in whatever position you choose but the car must roll on supplied wheels. All wheels must spin on the supplied axle.

There is no need to limit builder creativity outside of modding wheels and all using the same wood, nails, and wheels. I would add that if fenders are used they must be crafted from the block the car is cut from to prevent purchasing "add-ons".......but it would be nearly impossible to enforce......

The other issue to discuss is the method of racing. We all know that no 2 lanes are equal, so it would have to be a method involving each car running in 2 or more lanes with lowest average time as the winner.

Not to pick on you kickaxe because I know the majority feels the same as you, but comments like "There is no need to limit builder creativity outside of modding wheels" just kills me... I will try to restrain myself from commenting though..... but it is so hard... I can't do it.... yes I can.... willpower failing...........................................................

You guys are really talking about starting a new class. I still stand by my original thought of where's the fun of not putting it all on the line. A pinks race is really a grudge match, where someone has a point to prove. Put up or shut up. Right?

I don't think you have to have a grudge at all. You just have to be willing to put up your car. Skippy and I have zero issues with each other, and we are going head to head.

We don't need anymore classes!!! This would be just something for fun. I love this idea and I love the tournament style of it. 20 racers and you have the chance to win 4-5 cars!! That's sweet and this is how grudges are born. I'm defiantly in win or lose. The whining about rules and setup is crap. Participate and have fun, or don't that simple! Total cost of cars and race around $20, I guess the family gets one less McDonald's trip during this.

You may speak freely 5Kids. I know I just started posting on here this week, but I've been "here" over a year. My statement was, in terms of semantics, incorrect since we know creativity knows no bounds (like moveable spring-loaded weights....which should not be allowed). As a teacher, I understand your desire to correct it.

Kinser, I see it as a one time tournament (UFC or March Madness type event) not a grudge match. I am sure it will start/solve a few grudge matches, but ground rules still need to apply. I am commenting on this thread because I like the idea of a low cost equal playing field class. $10 kit plus polish stuff and lube for the thrill of a single elimination tournament. It offers a different thrill than the classes at a cost a broke dad like me can live with (translation: can justify to his wife without sleeping on the couch). I truly respect what the crew here has started and where it is all going. Hopefully I can find a way to compete in the other classes soon too, but at least if this class starts I can get my foot in the door.....if i can get it out of my mouth.....
