Making Trophies

I volunteered to make trophies for our Powderpuff derby this year. The Service Unit doesn't want to spend a lot on trophies, so I will be making them instead of buying them. Does anyone have ideas for easy-to-make trophies? I need to make 30 of them. Thanks!

These are the trophies they made for last year. They were pieces of 2x4 with an angled cut, painted flat black with a matchbox car painted gold on top, and a button on the front indicating what the trophy was for. They gave these trophies for the winner of each class (speed and looks) and bought trophies for the overall winners.

I was going to suggest what you've got there.

If you're feeling feisty, you could kick the Hot Wheels trophy up a notch by adding a platform on which the actual PPD car could be displayed. Add a piece of 1x6 (or 8?) to the bottom, and then a 2x2 piece with rubber on it (like a track stop section — you could probably use drawer liner) as the perch for the PPD car.

That's a good idea. I was a little underwhelmed with the trophies last year, so was hoping to somehow give them more pop. May be just the idea I was looking for.

This is one that Skippy might have been talking about...
We did these in 2013. Painted the sparkplugs and stand Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Yes this is the Gold one
