This is not how the pros do things but I have my ways to get it as good as I can. So I have a pin guage set up in my drill press and measured the run out to be .001 and figure I won't get it any closer than that....ive tried in the past and only lost more hair trying. So what I do is put the wheel on and measure it. I get .007 so I know where I'm starting at. Then my mind wanders and I start rotating the Chuck a quarter turn turn and find that I have .005 at 180°. I guess this coincides with my .001 on the pin and my total starting runout is .006. So my question is should I rotate my wheel on the pin so the high side lines up with the .001 side of the pin or opposite or does it not matter? My mind is drawing a blank on this one.
