I think the Novice and Am class could be one in the same but the Novice designation encourages people to jump in.
I know it helped me pull the trigger. Now I'm hooked.
Glad so many enjoy it. If you get a straight line on this graph, it will be a "normal" distribution (bell curve gets converted to straight line), so things off the line are out of the ordinary. Each individual builder is like a different process, and sometimes each car from the same builder looks like a different process. Each individual "secret" or trick lowers your time. One can estimate that a novice starting out at the slow zone ( still probably district competition speed) has about 12 steps to improve to be in the top 10.
