Today for something different I tried out the microfiber swabs from DD4H in place of the q tip sticks for every step of Johns wheel polishing system. The wheel bores seemed to glow under 30x magnification. I know Im new at this, But I want to tell you that when I spin test them by my ear it is almost impossible to hear the wheel spinning. The room has to be perfectly quiet to detect the almost inaudible sound. What a difference the swabs made. Has anybody else done this?

hmmm

I'm not sure what you're referring to Microfiber swabs? I didn't know DD4H sold anything by that name? Could you post a little more info so I can see what you are talking about? Thanks sounds interesting.

So you chucked one of the applicators in a drill to do the step 1 bore polish instead of a q-tip stalk?

I didn't understand you could polish in the drill with a no scratch applicator, I just used them to apply wax. I also didn't know they were microfiber, I'm learning a lot here. Thank you.

Most don't. The OP just tried it anyway and shared his results. The material doesnt feel like microfiber, at least not like eyeglass cleaning cloth. I was expecting something like a svelte cloth when i first bought one. I like them for cleaning out the wax and not leaving any lint behind like pipe cleaners do.

To ngyoung,

Yes I used the "No Scratch " applicator to do the first step. They fit rather snug in the wheel.
I was not having good luck with the walgreens q tips. The material of these swabs are woven. If you look close under a jewelers loupe you can see it. I was in contact with a distributer of these swabs and she said the material was polyester.

I tried a drill and then realized I would just chuck these wheels in my lathe and spin them instead of the swab. The swabs clean up real nice in warm soapy water.

Didn't know there was a distributor. I assumed John made them himself with the fabric and wire heat shrink tubing to attach it to the stick.
