My first post! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

My son decided at the last second to send in his car to MA. I lathed some new wheels 2 hours before I had to ship overnight.. ugh expensive... We took 14 place overall in Open Scouts Oil and 4th place in Bears. It was really exciting watching the live webcast with my son. We were able to see 4 of the six runs. I think next time we should get some lighter wheels... I think his wheels turned out just under 1.8g each... I did not expect to do so well... We almost got into the top 12! Too much fun...

First off, WELCOME to the NPWDRL, where information is free and speed is the secret.

Secondly, congratulations on finishing 4th in the Bears.

"Too much fun..." Join us this month on May 31st for league racing at it's finest. We have a class just for first time league racers, the SS Novice class. Come see how you compare to other racers at your same skill level. We have a live race feed so you can watch your cars run.

The most highly addicted fun you can have legally...

See you on the track!

Well just checked the results--

Damn good runs we had with the setup and issues I am impressed the boys did this well ...

Dhiren out of 49 kids open graphite ranked 15th ... Last run the weights fell and drug him to a whopping 3.896 ish...

Darshan- out of 22 Scouts graphite ranked 7th he had no slide glides, a washer on the front and different prep....

So we had very stable cars, need to adjust and move things around need to re work Darshans front end....

John - Once we get through some Church things will you allow these two cars to run a race if they are graphite? I just need to see where we can get to... The boys are going Oil on these cars to run soon... But until then they want to try to fix this and learn...

clap
Great job PaPa!

Thanks!

Any excuse to make some new cars might be worth it...
Time to make some cars and play with the big boys.
We have won pack and districts and I have achieved first place 6 out of 8 church events, but nothing like this.

I have to say it was nerve racking sending the car through the mail. I usually baby them to the events.
Hopefully the car from MA comes back in one piece.

Gleep, look into getting the transport boxes like John sells. I forgot what the foam is, but it's kind of compressed/hard and you can cut it to shape and lock the car into place.

Makes shipping a breeze.

+1

I also make sure I've got at least two inches of soft foam around the Legend shipping box(s) so my car(s) are double boxed. It takes the stress out of shipping. That and I insure my cars for $600 or more. That way I'll get what I need if something happens.

+1 Or at least enough to cover. I thought I had $100 last time I shipped an Elim. only $50. That was an expensive mistake.

Great News All the cars are boxed and in most cases re-boxed to fit trophies and other various things from this years Mid America Pinewood Derby 2014 - and will be all shipped out tomorrow - I do apologize that this process takes me a little while to do - but when you consider all the trophies that many of you won and all the other things - plus making sure that all is shipped back safe and sound it does take quite a HUGE amount of time. If I could only stop time...

To any of you out there that have pictures of this years event please send things to [email protected] so that we can post them on the website - we would love to see some of the great pictures that many of you had taken and for them to be part of the History of this event.

Thank you
Greg

Excellent Greg, great to hear. I can imagine it was a ton of work.

Can't wait to get the shipment. It was like Christmas last year when we were opening the box with all of the goodies in it.

Greg-

Do you know if anyone had pictures of the boys who were using the Pizza boxes to sled down the hill??? I would like to see if anyone who might have snapped some photos might have our boys on one or two... They still talk about the Hill...

Thanks
Papa V

Lots of pictures are now up on the website - check them out... and an entire album just for Awards - and who was giving them out. Lots of smiles and some great pictures of many of the guys that were at the event.

I'll skip over the ones handed out by the Governor.

I received the same more or less, except for the trophy. /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

I did receive a nice Proxxon catalog though. I will say this in all seriousness, my cars were packaged up as nicely as they were when I sent them. I did a tst run on both and they are what I expected them to be. The care and meticulous nature of those who handled my car were well above of what I would have expected. Many thanks to all involved with the MA race...

We got our box as well. Foreground trophies are this years. 3rd in class and 7th overall in graphite. Jr was happy and screaming.

In the background are last year's trophies for comparison. They all look nice.
