What a fun day we had today. Took my daughter and her car to the Boy Scout District Race to run her car in the modified division and burned the competition. Definitely picked up some extra speed since the powderpuff race. I think moving the weights to the back helped and i didnt see any wiggle this week.

Downside the council doesn't run a modified division so this will be the end of our pinewood season for now.

Thanks again to all the racers on here who posted comments and sent PM's

On to the entertainment -

I actually went out yesterday and picked up a drill press so i need a couple more pieces to get started on box stock.

I am also intrigued by street rod. i love cars with bodies so i might like to run one sometime soon. got some questions though. i will reach out when i am ready to dive in the deep end .

You should go to MA, TWar. Then there will be two from Jersey there...somewhat of an invasion.

I would have to look up the rules, hat car is all kinds of skirting the rules. It is overweight for the modified race and has ultra light wheels and bent axles, not sure what class I could fit in. Can you mail in a car to MA?

For MA open scout, all of the markings (including the fluting) must be visible on the wheels. Any wheel weight is allowed; coned hubs, etc. are also allowed. Bent axles are OK (of any "nail" type, SS or whatever is in the box). For weight, it must be 5.0 or less (143.4 grams or less). Any wheel base is OK.

Graphite or oil is allowed (there is a division for each).

And you can watch it live over the web. Its a whoot.

Yes, you absolutely can ship cars there. I did my first year. Just use good shipping practices. There are a number of videos if you need help on what that is.

Its official .... I put up my 10 bucks and entered the Mid America Derby. My daughter thought we were going to Nebraska , I explained we were mailing the car in a box ... she asked if she could go in the box with the car.

hmmm

Is this Monmouth county, NJ? I am also from NJ. In Ocean County. We're sending out car in too. Can't wait. Still trying to figure out what category to enter it in. We want to use the Javelin axles and the super stock wheels (I think they're called) from max velocity. The wheels are sanded but also have the cutout so the nail goes in a little further. Anyone know if that would be able to enter in the race for scouts? Otherwise I'll just leave the axles with the original box came with.

Any nail-type axle is accepted at MA, stock or aftermarket. As far as wheels go, any wheel with the tread bumps, all the lettering intact (inside and out!), and at least 7.5 mm width should pass. The MA-specific wheels are around 1 gram each.
