Monokote or Vinyl? (embossing)?

When finishing a car, any preference to monokote or vinyl? Or should I be looking at weight of the material (g/m²) instead?

Also I’ve seen some embossing effects that are done with puting a vinyl stencil underneath (see link). I love the look of that but am wondering if I should avoid that. Would that small bump in the finish reduce speed?

People use both monokote and vinyl. I personally use monokote repair strips; they are adhesive backed. I do use heat to shrink the monokote (as if it was applied to a model airplane), but I am careful...

Thank you for your answers. It seems like just personal preference then. I found this list sorted by weight. It seems there are other options as well. I think I just need to work with some material and explore what a good balance of frame support, weight reduction, and a great finished look will be.

I think it also has something to do with what is readily available to people in different areas. I know with the way technology is now and craft n hobby trends vinyl is everywhere you look right now. Craft n hobby stores in my area vinyl is huge, my wife has a cricut machine so we have tons of it. Plus she can cut or make custom vinyls for any of our personal things, vehicles, pwd cars, water bottles, paintball guns, whatever. If i wanted monokote i would have to get on amazon or something to get it. For some it may be opposite.

I ordered some vvivid vinyl and it was a lot easier to work with than the monokote. The back had some sticky tac, not a lot, but with low heat it stuck very nicely. The color options and detail in the wrap is pretty cool too.

Nice RW, so did you use a heat gun or just wrap it? Would a heat gun make a noticable difference?

Curious is the Vvivid cover is substantially more in weight than the monokote? Is there significant difference of weight between the two?

I'm in the market for a desktop vinyl cutter. Read you comment and wanted to see if you can help me.

The problem with doing research on the internet is that it's filled with garbage hype. That's why
I would like to hear from somebody who actually owns one.

What I've pieced together so far is that cricut has a horrible customer support. Is this true? What
about the software is it still online no changes.

I was lucky when I've found a blog post that said it as it is. Actually it's harsher than you would imagine. My short list included cameo and cricut. This post cricut machine vs cameo was an eye opener.

Good news I got a real review bad news it has put me on the fence. What's your take on it?
Any ideas will be helpful
