This is going to be the biggest event ever!

I have a question on the open scout oil class. Is there a weight limit on how light of a wheel you can run? This will be my first year to send cars. If all goes as planned I hope to make it live.

Thanks for any info..

B Regal is right no weight limit - it is important that all markings have to be intact inside and out... and those of you that might be considering wheel weights need to take into account this ... so that we do not have to remove wheels.

Are the mid America wheels legal for the open scout oil? Only reason I want To use oil is I can't stand doing graphite prep its to messy../images/boards/smilies/smile.gif/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

They are indeed... and thus the Name... Mid America Wheel... and they are Fast !!! As long as you know how to correctly run a reversed wheel... looking forward to seeing the cars that Chump Change Racing fields at this years.. MAPWD

Looking forward to the event once again, I'll be there in person to watch and take part in the events. It's getting close! See everyone there!

it will be here before we know it, I need to get some cars started I want to have 4 cars in the MA side with the kids and wife, then I hope to get a couple cars into the national side for myself.....

Greg, I had a question about proxy vs live. I might be attending live but I may not be able to pull my son out of school. If he builds an entry for the open scout class (he's a Bear this year) and I bring it along, do I register him as live since I'm there or proxy since he's not? Hope that makes sense.

Hello Greg, if wheel weights are used such as Down4derby lead aero weights, what do you require for inspection? A builder can drill a 1/4" hole in the lead aero weight allowing the inside lettering to be viewed. Is this sufficient? Thank you. D4D

Braketracer - that is excellent - your son can absolutely race and you can bring it along -- you can register the car as attending the event live - which is only a $5 entry fee vs a $10 entry fee for proxy. It is $10 to register the day of ... and you will appreciate being registered ahead of time vs registering the day of. You can even get the car checked in on Friday and not have a line to worry about on Sat.

Down4Derby - wow a 1/4' hole in order to see that all lettering is intact inside... my honest answer is we will have to look at it to see if we are able to see everything thru your 1/4' hole... ummm hopefully??? I personally hope that there are not a lot of cars that we are going to have to be shinning lights thru a hole with a magnifying glass in order to see if lettering is intact -- maybe I am overstating this but part of the reason that we have our rules is so that we can easily enforce them in a fair and reasonable manner with out having to tear apart a car - and to do it in an efficient manner that allows us to tech in 400 cars in approx. 2 hrs... anything you can do to help us with that process is A+

That is an odd pic.. there is not a mold number to the right of the BSA markings... or a die mark to the left of the BSA marking... what type of wheel is this? ... ahh Never mind it just took me a minute to get the perspective you were taking the picture from... you are correct it appears that you are able to see markings just through your hold -- keep in mind that each of our race officials will be looking at these kinds of things.... personally I hope it is worth it... as it does indeed make our Tech in process a bit more challenging.

Down4derby, can you show us a shot from an angle you would be looking at it?

This appears to be straight thru the 1/4" hole from the opposite side without a wheel?

Just curious for reasons other than MA.

Thanks

The reason I took the pic from that perspective is it was the only way to get my camera to focus on the lettering, however my eyes have no problem focusing and the lettering is visible from a more conventional perspective.
