Nationals and the 2015 Mid America Pinewood Derby

On the rule that requires "nail type axles" for the scout classes, they don't have to retain the point do they? I usually blunt those off so they don't scratch the wheel bores. I'm thinking that rule is just to discourage the one piece axles?

Wait For Greg To Confirm But As Long As They Have A "Nail Head" Which Tells The Inspectors It Is Two Seperate Axles Is All ThEre Looking For.

Someone save me the skinny! Our rules remain the same right?
Yes, except for the one strange one outlawing any cars colored with sharpies !!
lol

I hope to have a car for nationals as well as enter my scout's car. It will be proxy. Can I send them both in the same box? I have a carrier for both and was planning to pack them both in the same shipping box. If I remember right, you don't do the return shipping the same as we do for league and you may ship the car back with awards and other prizes. In league we print a return shipping label to include with our cars. I am not sure how the return shipping label will work if the box becomes heavier then then it was rated for when sent out.

I am hoping that including the registration receipt for MA and Nationals attached to their respective car carrier will be enough to let whoever unpacks the box to get them checked in with their correct division. I was also going to mark my shipping box to show that both cars belong with that box.

I am curious how... many of you are planning on racing in this years Nationals / Mid America Pinewood Derby - are you attending - are you going to send cars?

Ngyoung -- actually some very good questions regarding shipping - shipping as John can attest is seriously challenging... Yes go ahead and send both in the same box -- we do a very good job of making sure everything goes back -- a return label is great especially if you are using UPS (those the by far the easiest cars to ship back) if you are doing USPS - it makes it a little harder I strongly urge those that want to use USPS to include extra -- and know that we generally try and pack the boxes back full of stuff... I wish there was an exact formula there is not... so Please include more for return shipping - especially if you think you are winning trophies... I wish I had a more concrete answer for you.

Josh,

What sort of condition are the $55/night Suites in? I knew several of us stayed in a place last year that was less than desirable and I would not like a repeat of that again. Andrew, Ian and Todd can attest to this. Swing by there and provide us your review. Maybe I'll just go all out this year, instead. We'll see.

Just stay in the Courtyard. Its like McDonalds - you know what you are getting. The extra $20 is worth it.

Being less than 2 month out and the biggest event in of the year I thought there would be a lot more ADVERTISING to get people's attention and keep there interest. ...

Well I have been promoting heavily on the Zeebzob podcast. Hope to see a lot of racers from all leagues out there.
The Zeebzob Speed Shop crew will be staying at the Hampton Inn. I'll bring my portable recorder, so if you wanna be on the podcast, find me.
