We have a brand new 42' Best Track, with standard stop section. We have had a few cars, especially super slick vinyl covered cars, go right off the end. The end result was not good for the cars. What modifications do we need to avoid this. Show me your stop sections.
Thanks,

Agree with King.

Two stop sections is the best route, but at a minimum, raise that end up as high as you can.

Every few heats (or more often if you prefer), take a lint roller like you'd use on clothing and roll it up and down the stop section rubber. This will pick almost all of the little particulate graphite if you don't let it build up too much. I would not use any cleaning solution on the rubber for fear it might lose its grip.

+1 on the second length of stop section. I also added 2 pcs of polycarbonate, 1/8" x 4" x 72" long that run from the finish line to the far end of the stop section on either side of the track to contain a car that might derail. At the moment, I use a rolled up towel at the very end of the stop section as a crash fence but most every car stops well short of the towel. Only have the towel there because a concrete wall is at the end of the track. You can clip the polycarbonate in place using the same size binder clips that Besttrack uses to join the track sections.

For our pack's track I took a piece of memory foam in a 4" x 4" x 15" size and housed it in a wooden box that is offset down a bit so the cars that don't stop bump an inch or so up from the bottom edge. Keeps the cars from trying to burrow under the foam. One of the parents sewed up a camo fabric cover for it. That works good enough that a second one is on my todo list for my own track.

Thanks Bracket Racer, our track is elevated about 16-18"....got to do something. You have any pictures?

Ok, here's a couple pics. The polycarbonate is actually clear, I just never peeled off the scratch protective film on it. The binder clips keep the guards snug to the track edge, I have them clipped around the very outer rail of the stop section pieces. When I'm not using the track, I unroll the towels over the stop section rubber to keep it from getting dusty since the track is up most of the time.

There is some stuff that is made to spray on the bottom of throw rugs to keep them from sliding around. It is called "Perfomix Super Grip." Wipe the stop section first with a Clorox disinfectant wipe and then spray on the Super Grip. Let it dry a few hours before you run a car on it. Works great.
