How are those new fenders working for you

Every car I build I install them..it quicker and easier than washers...

Do you still you still use the washer on the axle along with having glide strips embedded in the wood or just rely on the embedded glide board to be friction-less enough so as not to need the washer at all and allows you to make the space between the hub and body closer?

Have you seen any speed performance with the new fenders or is this the first race your using them in? I notice you are using the ladder build on the one car. I think I will have to try that next. Thanks JBD, Good Luck next weekend

I also like those glides....im used to using the washers but do admit to them being a pain sometimes as they I keep accidently bumping em and essentially popping em off LOL...

They look good. Never heard of the guide strips, they look nice. I have two pairs of the gee fenders, I feel like they dont give enough coverage of the wheel surface, whats your opinion?

As far as the fenders go, they may not provide "enough coverage", but what I would say is, "they provide great aerodynamics". Based upon what I'm seeing

Covering the wheels completely is not better. For example look at the Nellie Faye fenders. Complete coverage and slow as a turtle.

Thanks again for this forum and your dedication. It is you that is carrying the torch.

It was you that told me that this was my home too and I should speak my mind, so I will.

I have this urge to give an honest critique and at times and it is brutally honest.

The Nellie Faye design may be slow (if you say so then I believe it) but that has little to do with the premise.

You, better than anyone, knows the evolving nature of the PWD and I would not be surprised to see you one day reversing your statement. Either way I will be buying my wheels and axles from you, in any attempts I make in trying to prove you wrong.

As far as looks go, I am starting to favor the open topped fenders because it gives it a more Formula 1 look.

I am very curious as to why you dislike the over the wheel fenders.

Is is the idea of additional drag (especially raised up that high above the guide rail) that is objectionable to you?

Actually someone on the site did some testing on the fender differences. I can't find it yet, maybe it was a YouTube Video. It showed the air flow was pushing into the middle of the car causing to much drag vs the other fender sjust push the air away from the wheels. Some builder where trying to prove the air disturbance causes other cars to wiggle a little as they go down the track.
I would like to see a wind tunnel test on this

Mind if I ask what material others are using for their Side Glide strips? (i.e. PTFE, Delrin, Space Walker's)

The derlin washers are what I use. A little super glue and they stay right where I put them.
