NEW DD4H Silver Bullet Pro Questions

Is the #44 drill bit strictly for BSA axles?

Typically one would use a #44 bit for BSA or Max-V axles.

Maybe a little off-topic, but it's worth remembering that BSA axles are basically just nails, and don't tend to be completely straight. Even if you sort through them to find the best of them, you're still likely going to be off a bit. Might mitigate some of the benefit you get from a super-accurate drill jig. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Thank you Mike. I feel confident the product I have is a solid upgrade and every bit worth the price. As a matter of fact after using it for an hour I would pay $500 for it.

no problem. i think many people cant comprehend what close tolerances are and how being just 1 thousand off on a pwd car equates to .025 on a vehicle. i know what kind of set ups and accuracy it takes to build a quality fixture like yours.

I agree ........ John needs to put his big boys pants on and call a spade a spade. Jewkes taught him everything he knows and he stole The Block design like he stole GB design then tries to tip toe around the issues. I was called rude for my post today. - now we have the "rude police" here on the forum. Please - must be a millennial. Kinser tried to questioned if Ian products even existed since he never saw one. I have used them all and so has many league racers with excellent results. Yes Kinser they do exist. So John, obviously there is a pattern here where you take a persons design, copy it, rebrand it, and give no appreciation or credit to those who you stole from. So put your big boy pants on and call it like it is. Is what you did illegal- not really but that does not make your actions right. But what you did was classless and banning Ian from the forum is a new low. You mentored Ian?!?!? Please! Ian's dad is exactly correct in his assessment. One more note, I forward the tool to a local tool and die maker and the price in volume is well below John's price but well within what Ian's range. Ian price was fair while this is gadget is way overpriced. Good luck to all.

I never questioned whether they existed. I know they exist. My comment was based on the fact that you preferred the long over a short one. I have been involved in this longer than many and I never did put Ian's jig down, I own one. My statement was implying as to there availability. I can't even get an axle bender!

...and as for Jokes teaching John everything he knows! I'll take my own experience for that one. Jokes thinks he taught me everything I know too, minus the $1000+ and probably 400+ hours I had to spend to figure my own oil method out because Legend was discontinued and no one would sell any. When I figured it out I won MOTM (or, PDDR Reboot King of the Hill (Failed)).

You all have it MADE with this forum, the forums before were secretive to the max!

Ummm. I was referring to someone else. NOT John. In my eyes John has built a successful business, one of the best and friendliest forums and a great racing league. I have the utmost respect for John. I'm not sure why you and goat boys dad are lurking here if you feel as you do. You should both focus your energy on your own business. Your only making yourself look like someone who cries that everyone is cheating because you lost a race.

I think competition in business is a good thing. I believe free market will dictate what a tool or set of wheels or axles or wax re packaged or wooden blocks marked up or videos or any number of other pwd gadgets are worth. We don't need one vendor making tools, we need to have them compete for our business. I appreciate all the dudes who take on the mountain of trying to sell the best PWD products in the world. I feel lucky to be able to shop around, I see business every day trying to build better cabinets then me, hell today i saw a gas station build directly across the street from a current gas station. Why do Lowes build next to Home depot? We need to welcome the competition.

I kinda agree with Bulldog in that competing products are good for the consumer and maybe even the competing businesses as it pushes development of more and better products ... at least that's supposed to be the idea.

Fact is in business competition is enevitable.

Sadly though, sometimes (like parts of this thread) things can get a little ugly (Coke vs Pepsi, Apple vs Microsoft).

I'm new to PWD, so I don't know all the players and their histories.

But here's what I do know (with relation to no one in particular) ...

If I designed a new product that I knew had real value, I'd have a patent.
If I was helping develop products, I'd have a contract and own a share.
If I developed a newer and improved version of a competitors product, I'd be like every business in the World.

I could say more on this but there's no point ... But I will say today was a disappointing introduction to another side of the hobby.

No reason to be disapointed. You will not find a place in this world whitout disagreement from time to time. Everytime John introduces something someone whines about it. Predators came out, some one whined. A new oil system came out, some one whined. It happens every time. It'll happen again.

I could not agree more with business competition. It is natural and expected. But this is a forum - a community of people working together and supporting one another. Goat Boy has been a long time contributer here and very helpful and generous in this sport for many years. So when you see John copying his product, marketing it like he is the genius behind the design without giving any credit to a long time contributor, inventor and friend to many here, BANNING him from the website and making some lame excuse and going so far to say he "mentored" GB when that is complexly false, I take exception to that. Classless - and it ain't the first time. Good on GB's father for setting the record straight. If you want to make a few extra bucks, no problem. But you do not do it at the expense of those to helped you get where you are today and lie about it. Man up John. Put your big boy pants on. That is how I was raised and I have had tremendous success in my life living by those principles - yes it can be done. And just because someone dare disagrees with the self proclaimed "Guru" doesn't make him a predator, it makes him honest.

There isn't enough money involved in what we do to get a patent. You would go broke fighting them. I have yet to see these guys go screaming on other boards about the long list of my creations that have been knocked off. As a matter of fact that GB drilling jig looks a lot like this thing called a pro body tool. I bet Fred Wheeler would have a lot to say about the axle bender and its origin. Hell you have a couple vendors that do absolutely nothing but do cheap knock offs. Come on Falco! You have a lot of yelling to do! That is classless that you won't stand up for the rights of all vendors that have products duplicated! I am appalled at your lack of character!

Come on man. You have no clue about what you are talking about. It would be like me talking about some affair you had with your coworker Betty 7 years ago while her husband was gone fighting the war. I could make you look bad because of what a cousin of a friend of your neighbors told me about you but would that be the right thing to do?

Getting on my forum and flaming me because you think something should be priced less? Why not just use your GB tool and leave it at that?

Don't start with me; its no contest. Its Coke all the way. Apple will always be second fiddle to Microsoft.

I know everyone wants to drill their own car body but if you can’t afford a drill jig or want to keep your expenses in check just have DD4H drill your purchased body with his jig. Since his jig is the same as one he sells you there should be no difference in the drill job.

Oh ya' well Chevrolet and Mc Donald's to you buddy /images/boards/smilies/tongue.gif

I always thought forums were for everyone to share information. If you want to make it a business page put advertisement banners on top and call it a day. The people can decide which products are worth the money.
