Not sure if anyone else has wasted their money on the new pinewood derby book by Troy Thorne. It is nice and pretty but it is just a retread of the other book with a section of bad information about rail riding. I am amazed at the Derby Worx suck up that goes on. Why wouldn't the guy take the time and do some real research and provide top notch information to go with his book?

Save your money!

Funny I tried voicing this opinion on another board and was deleted immediately!

Cause he has friends in DT. Your opinion there only matters as long as it's the same as everybody else's.

Be Gentle, You will find your opinions and ideas are always welcome here. Outside the box is norm and it's okay to win.

Just return your book and get your money back and buy the DD4H video...between that and the forum is all the information you will ever need and you will be light speeds ahead of the competition. Just be thankful that you realized the brain washing and you did not get hooked up in that mess. All I can say is to each their own, I am happy here and I have no intentions of going elseware! Glad to have ya here and WELCOME to the forum

Just curious what bad information is in there about railriding? Is it about bending the rear axles?
I read it and I 100% agree with Gentle. Telling scouts to bend their rear axles is the #1 worst thing you could do. Rear end alignment issues are the #1 killer in PWD. Bending rear axles went out in 2008!

Overall I have to agree that the book is a retread of outdated information. It is nothing more than a Derby Worx promotional job. I could go through it and list all the wrong info but is it really worth the time?

hmmm
hmmm
idea
This brings up an interesting idea. An EBOOK for PWD, but in DD4H style. You could mass market that like crazy on the web and in it have hyper links to YouTube Videos and to your products.

I'm adding to this comment. Just think 5kids with his "madskills" with diagrams and instructional material you would have the work half done right there. Then add in some pics from a few of the races showing off BESTTRACK as a sponsor and GoatBoy products. Need a editor and copyright lawyer. Their are tons of resources and talented people here that would love to help John, pull that off.
Just think the cost would be hardly nothing. Its all digital media, no wasting of paper or dealing with a publisher or printing material. All the collaboration could be done online.

I dont want to start anything as I post both on here and dt under the same name, but someone asked about drilling the rears and a member implied there was a better way to do it. I am no pro, but everything I have read and everyone I have talked to say drilling is the way to go. Needless to say I was shocked that this was being said, so as respectfully as possible I corrected the mis-information. I will also note that this was coming from a person that enforces one of the strictess rule sets I have seen and encourages others to do the same.

Dude, this isn't even worth the effort. But, I'm always up for a laugh. If you don't drill axle holes, how are you getting the axles into the car. Please don't say hammer them. I will fall over laughing

Reminds me of that joke: First guys says "Do you have holes in your underwear?" , the second guys says "NO", the first guy replies "Then, how do you get your legs through"
blah

Dude! You are not allowed to share info with other forums, if they haven't joined here they are on their own. It's in the agreement you clicked when you signed up here.

Not sure if this is in jest, but I wasn't sharing some big secret they dont know. I think several people on dt drill canted rears. In fact, the post I am referring to the person was talking about drilling the rears canted. I did not tell him to do it, but at the same time I didn't want him thinking he was doing the wrong thing.

Sorry, I meant drill the rears canted, not just drill them vs bending the rear axles.

Ya, he was yanking your chain. You're free to do as you wish. There are guys here that started out over there and came over here and a few dudes that go both ways. But to me that seems wrong. Between being some bad blood that goes back (I'm no historian) before this forum even started and while there may be no secrets somebody still figured it out.

I'm currently nor ever been a member over there but I have looked. I've read some of that misinformation and wanted to sign up so I could straighten things out. Then I decided not to. No offense to any of you guys that are here now that have been there, but we all know some one and I think there is a crowd over there who like to get filled with crap and think its Gospel.

There's some ok guys over there also.

I was going to carry this a little further and make up a user agreement, but I'm tired. I'm totally joking with you!

You all can thank DT because without them we would never be where we are. I was crucified there for telling people if they wanted to trim .03 off their times to use The Block. All the big dogs there called me a liar and said I was just trying to sell a gimmick. They support a crook selling nothing but gimmicks and knock offs and will do anything to keep people from finding us. I believe in giving the proven fastest product and information and have built my business that way. They literally laughed at me and said I wouldn't even be around a year later. DT got exposed for what it is, a large group of very smart people who love the attention and can't accept the fact a doofus like me figured things out that they couldn't. They will never race for the fear of loosing their credibility. They are proud of their MA showing when in fact they couldn't even run faster than a car that fell out of the stop section and crushed a wheel. They are a funny bunch.

I pressing the like button!

I know you John, and you my friend are no doofus.

I believe that there is serious censorship going on over at DT.

I probably would not be on this forum without them, and so they served a purpose for me.

In a way it is a shame, and a blessing that you were not embraced there John.

This forum is awesome for free expression and it is also for the elite builders.

You gotta wanna go even faster to find it. It has a certain exclusivity to it.
