Ain't that a great website

You got that right! and "The Chive" gets a TON of traffic. I documented how I made the car on my site and once it races I will send in the pics of the car, how I made it and the race video. Maybe they will humor a pinewood derby nerd like myself and post a picture or two/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Way to go. I especially like the way you did your front end.
It looks like you may put my IROCZ down a few notches.

I didn't order the Toytech bodies Opa, but with both of my cars the front needed to be raised otherwise the front wheels would have came through the hood. On both cars I raised the front and lowered the rear while trying to keep the car level or still slanted slightly forward. Basically the back of the car is around the wood frame like you have described and the front is sitting on the top of the wood frame. So the plastic part of the car is actually sloped up towards the front. Who knows how they will run, I probably won't know until a couple days before I send them.... They were a very fun build.

There is more than one way to skin a cat sez my pa.

Really well done.

In my case, I put the extra balsa around the pinewood platform, drilled out the weight pockets and everything else between the wheels, then glued a 1/64th in. balsa on the bottom to make it flat. Weight went on top of the balsa. The huge pocket between the front and rear wheels remained hollow. I piled all the weight into the back. Because the front is so long, the fulcrum effect made the COM turn out right.
I cut the entire platform to slip into the lexon body, left the front end even, but pushed the rear end up into the Lexon body by almost an inch and cut off the extra Lexon, thus the car had a low profile, almost horizontally even at the top.

My yellow car was my first attempt, and I didn't follow all of my own building rules. As a result, it is at least 1/100th slower.

Your body looks the same as the toytech's. Where did you buy it?
