New Unlimited car

This is our new Unlimited car “Fast Forward”. It is ready to go for the first race of 2014 at the Zeebzob Speed Shop and hopefully the first 2014 NPWDRL race.

Special thanks to: Ian (Goat Boy) for providing me all of the high quality parts and pieces and for answering a bunch of questions, Andy (Zeebzob) for helping me assemble the car and for answering a bunch of questions, and to Mario (Quadad) for giving me a bearing assembly/dis-assembly demo.

I am really looking forward to racing in the Unlimited class.

Does anyone have a good easy way to remove the first bearing from an UNL wheel?
So far, I have just been carefully using an EXACTO knife, but there must be a better way.
The second bearing is no problem, there are probably a dozen easy ways for that.

Opa, I start off with a razor blade to get it moving then I use a exacto knife, to move it out some more, then I use to back side of the exacto knife to finish popping it out. Working from side to side around the bearing flange. It works for me. I would not like to hit or tap the bearing at all, too fragile...SPIRIT....

I haven't been doing this very long but I do exactly what spirit does....once its out enough however, I will grasp it between my nails and take out....ive accidently popped out and dropped enough to stop using the exacto blade as soon as I can get my nails around it and remove....the first one I did I sent the thing flying and found it 10 feet away from me because I was twisting the exacto blade to get it all the way out.

Just an idea here, but keep in mind I've never ran or have had a bearing in my hand. With that said, would it be possible to use those axle pliers that are sold to grab the bearing out of the wheel? The only reason I say this is because the pliers have a groove at the very tip to grasp the axle head. I'm not sure if the bearing has a lip to grab a hold of or not. Or would these pliers just damage the bearing? I have no clue, just tossing an idea out there.....

OPA, That's the way I do it too. I'm interested to know if there's a better way though. I guess I never thought to ask because the hobby knife works.

The way I remove the flush bearing is remove the non flush and then push the other out with a spare axle.
