Hey All.

I just wanted to jump on and say hello. Other than building and running with my son in scouts, I'm pretty green when it comes to all the different classes and rules. My son usually wins in the pack but we have fallen short of the top 2 when it comes to district races, so I am sure I can learn alot here.
I am hoping to send out a car to NPWDRL soon and I was considering building a SR to get my feet wet, so any tips or suggestions are more than welcome.
I look forward to chatting, building and racing with you all.

Cool Avatar ! ! !

Welcome to the addiction !

My biggest tip is start with an easier class than Street Rod for your first build. The car model bodies on the cars can be very tricky.

I recommend BASX or Street Stock. Look the rules over, and you will see they are pretty straight forward for a regular pinewood build.

Good luck and have fun ! ! !

Simplicity works best! You can easily overthink these builds. You'll soon be laying awake at night thinking of these pinewood cars. Most of all, enjoy the fun!

Thanks, I will take everyone's advise and start out minimal and work up. Oh, I have already laid awake staring at a dark ceiling thinking of how my son and I can make his car faster with staying under the rules umbrella.

I do have a question that I cant seem to find the answer to or maybe over looked inside a thread. All the rules state "no Canting" but under the "wheels section". I assume that is directly meant for the wheels themselves since it is listed under "wheels". So is canting the axles legal in all classes?

NPWDRL rules say "no canting?" That's news to me!

You can definitely run canted axles.

Wheel modifications allowed vary from class to class. None in Box Stock (outside of bore prep), minimal in BASX, moderate in SS...etc..etc...

Yes, you can drill canted axles holes. You can not cant the wheel tread. The wheel tread must remain parallel with the wheel bore.

There are 2 classes where canted wheels are okay. Fat wheels Unlimited, and Street rod Pro. All other classes tread needs to be parallel with the bore.
