Ok guys, my son got second in his race today. Dad is disappointed. We did canted rears,1/4inch thick,regular wheelbase. Got beat by an extended wheelbase car with a tungsten canopy. I had the back wheels migraiting out, and one raised wheel. I had the wheels spinning for about 35 seconds before they stopped. The only problem was the car had wobble to it. Why would that be? I thought I did everything I was suppose to. We still get to go to district but I need that car to be faster. Could my gap have been to much. Any hints or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks guys

How much steer did the car have and where was the car wiggling, in the transition, in the flat...? Was the wiggle violent or did it just sway back and forth? Was the wiggle more pronounced at the front of the car or at the rear of the car? What wheellbase are you running? Do you know what COM you had? Length of track? Center rail? Maybe a picture of the car might help determine any other contributing factors. Just a few things that came to mind as I read your post.
It seemed to steer into the center rail pretty quick to me. I noticed the wobble on the flat. Well it was kind of a sway I guess. Seemed toward the rear. Was running just a standard wheelbase. My COM when I set it on my silver bullet seemed small, maybe 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch. I think our track is either 32 or 35 ft wood but not sure. If I can figure out how to get a couple pictures up I will. Thanks Gravity
What's the steer set at? Wobble is usually because of not enough steer. It'll always look like the car is going into the rail fast because of the decline, but the transition is where you see if you had enough steer or not. By you saying your car swayed on the flat leads me to believe you need a touch more steer.
Wheel gaps was taught to me by a very smart man. He never used a gauge other than his eye. Basically as close as possible that his eye could see was his wheel gap.

I would try to add some steer, as suggested. Is the car right or left side dominate? Hard to tell from the picture, kind of small.
