My son won his pack derby race this weekend. The track must be shorter because his average time was 2.580 sec. When he built the car we used the 4 wheel bent axle method. I also noticed that when we tuned the car we had it steer away from the DFW (so the raised wheel rode the rail). We tuned it a while back and put it on the shelf till the night before the race. We are allowed to make a new car or change the winning car before districts.

I'm wondering if you guys think I should plug the holes and re-drill with a block, start over or run it the way it is. I have no idea why we set it up to steer the wrong direction but it was fast! It was .100 sec. faster than the other cars. Thanks for the help in advance!

Build a new one! More bonding time with your son. If he really doesn't want tobuild another, just tune the other one to steer the correct way. Its his race and car in the end. I am super competitive so i need to always remind myself to not take it more serious then my scout.

He wants to run the car the way it is. I wish we could test it before districts to see if it is faster when it steers the other direction. I guess we will run it and hope for the best. I'm kinda surprised that steering it the wrong direction resulted in the fastest car in the pack!
