Making guys tear the car apart for no reason
We had two cars registered and i had to pull an axle from both cars! It’s interesting how the inspectors are behind partitions and not in public eye. We’ve only attended regionals for the first time this winter so I’m not sure this is standard protocol.

Just finally passed prostock after having to pull my front axels out a little wider because it was tight in there inspection box. Good luck everyone

Did they make you pull an axle out totally? Or did you have visibility holes? We didn't have those visibility holes and had to pull an axle. Which resulted in lots of finger prints over a finely prepped axle. I wonder if all cars without visibility holes had to pull an axle? Rules stated you didn't need those holes for pro-stock. I have to say this years inspection felt more thorough than last years.

We had the same issue with having to pull the raised front axle out to made the front a bit wider. Basically it went from a locked raised wheel to a just spinning front wheel, no big deal.

No reason to take cars behind a partition
I agree, however the partition could be there to keep the inspectors from being bothered by people who cars are inspected at the moment. You could easily see though the gaps of the partition though.

And maybe next time they can inspect the whole car first, report what is wrong so you can correct all at once, instead of the current process of correcting one item and then later, after going through the whole process again, you might have to correct another item, and then waiting for the inspection again.

Reminds me why I am glad we don’t race scouts. Awana suits us just fine. Not as much racing but man I gotta hand it to you guys, you sure handle the ridiculousness of their inspection antics quite well.

I was surprised that our front end was also to narrow, but again I also never checked at home. The car we raced already had run on a best track at our Pack and District level with no problems so I never thought on checking it. Luckily we could could fix it by just pulling the NDFW out. We just put it on the wooden test block and pushed the NDFW in until it was snug and car could still be fitted on test block without too much resistance. It's another story if you have to pull your DFW out, bigger gap is not really what you want.

I am glad they took notice of the super fast times from last year, I thought they already added graphite last year too if they suspected no graphite, although it's easy to apply some graphite to the car or outside wheel and use oil in the bore. Personally I wouldn't mind them pulling axles after the race and inspecting axles and wheels for oil, and weight of wheel. I am not a big fan of someone else applying graphite (of unknown origin and quantity) to our wheels.

Why not get rid of the graphite only rule? What graphite were they applying? There is no reason to go behind a partition to do an inspection. Also, if you are ripping wheels out of one car you have to do the rest. This we did it because we suspected something reason is a joke. If they are throwing Derby Dust or Tube O Lube on the car then your chances to win are gone.

Make rules that can be upheld without breaking a car down. Running oil is no secret anymore and anyone can do it.

They also need to update their check in boxes. The clearance rules are ridiculous too.

Also, no bent axles... OK I will stop. It is one of the absolute worst sets of rules I have seen to date. It could be such a great event.

I couldn't agree more on all points!

Congratulations to all that raced on Saturday. It was a nerve racking fun day. Their were some pretty fast cars their. I agree the rules really suck and they really need to teach the volunteers/inspectors how to not man handle the cars and to not toss them around. Too many cubs and parents put way too much time and effort into building and tuning these things to watch all that hard work get ruined cause someone doesn't know how to handle a car. This year was are first year that we had any issues with inspection and had to pull axles as well. All in all the kids stuck to my number one rule had fun, so it was a good time.

My son and I were there for the first time. It was an interesting experience. His car failed inspection for wheels (apparently they were over-sanded/polished, we rounded the tread edge and they viewed that as reducing the tread size). Had to swap in new wheels on the spot. Lesson learned.

It was a lot of fun, especially for us newbies, but it also left us with a lot of questions about how to improve for next year. The cars in his rank were super fast. The overall winner and 2nd in the stock class are the same rank as my son, and they're brother and sister. Brother won a top spot last year, too. I'm sure they'll be back with crazy fast cars next year. They're some seriously tough competition. My son has his sights set on a trophy next year but we're a long way from building that kind of car.

My family participated in the NYC races also. I wanted to thank DD4H and all the helpful folks providing advice on this board. Invaluable tools and knowledge here. My kids had a great time at the NYC races. My daughter’s wheels were flagged during inspection, so we swapped them out on the spot. The inspectors that we talked to were pretty reasonable and patient during the whole process.
