Regardless of how stupid these rules are. Rules are rules if the inspectors get a bug up their ass on the no bent axle rule and really look hard. I would really hate for them to question my son's car. The DFW is clearly bent and you can see the bending groove. I'm thinking of using an axle with no groove and less bend. Maybe it won't be as obvious. Or like Lightnin Boy said just don't go.
I do agree, even if the rules don't state it, if they say no what can you do? I am thinking of going stock class, in which bending the axle is not allowed anyway. However we need to try our current car first with straight front axle. The last time (and the first time) we raced with non bend axles the car had a natural curve resulting in a natural rail rider. Although that was with axle slots. Since then we always drilled and used bent axles in the DFW.
