Hello all I am new to the user group. I am excited to report my son is going to district.

I was looking for tips on best wheel prep and if anyone has experience with applying graphite ro wheels?

Thanks
DP

Welcome! and nice job! Best advice... "search" and read. Everything us newbs want to ask has just about already been asked. I found everything I needed to know last year and just applying the basics of what everyone here is doing made it possible for my 2 kids to literally slay the pack at our Awana Grand Prix. Definitely look at DerbyDad4Hire's page as I second what Chalk said and check out 5KidsRacing page also. Video's on 5Kids are great. DD4H's products are stellar. This will give you the edge you need to go very far if not all the way.

Regards,
Jimmy

I know alot of people say they are on a tight budget but if you are gonna be pwd racing just spend the $29 dollars or whatever it is and buy the Black Ice kit. Spend from now till districts an so on reading everything on this forum. It took me months and you will probably read alot that you dont know what it is but you will quickly become addicted to learning about, building and racing these cars. If you guys are scout level racing you will quickly become front runners. Just be open and receptive to what these guys tell you, this is what they do! Like Jimmy and Chalk said you will find most what you need at DerbyDad4Hire store, he will get you started and headed the right direction - Down Hill! lol

Good luck

I know I am budgeting but after last years success and a year of thinking and reading more... last night I bit the bullet and threw $100 on the card and got DD4H's Black Ice, Axle polish kit with extra end step wax and the new oil. All t be applied to this years cars that building will begin on this week. Even threw a drill press and belt sander on the same card. Wife's gonna kill me!!! Hopefully I get a few wins out of this first before she does so I can die happy. :p

Good luck with district race DP !!

With the stuff i learned the last 2 years my nephews both won their packs and the younger one finished second by .001 at district last year and earned a spot in the council race. If you study these threads and follow the advice well winning is attainable.

Also as a good piece of advice if you haven't stepped up to tungsten weights yet that will help at districts

Second what TW said. I will never use any other weights but Tunsten now... unless I find something even more dense. Though not sure there is any atm. Love that stuff. Use it if you don’t already. You won’t regret it DP.
