I have read it takes around 10 runs for the oil to break in before you see your fastest runs. What is your thoughts about the break in time and what do you guys do that don't have a track? Thanks Craig

I don't have the experience or speed of the two that posted before, so take this for what it's worth. I usually need six or seven runs until my car hits it's fastest time after a full reprep. Seeing QT and 5K post that they don't need a break in makes me think I have plenty of room to improve my prep process!

I would have to agree with QT and 5K. When using the DD4H oil process, I haven't seen a need for a break-in procedure. Typically, I run the car down a tuning board, ship the car in and if I've done everything right, the car if fast as it is going to be, no break-in.

Most of the time...once I tune my car... the 1st or 2nd pass is my fastest... Different oil like different things...Sometimes I will mess with a car from as rear tuning...steer just to see if there's any speed. Then I lose speed and spend 1-2 hour trying to get the speed back:-) :-) :-) :-) But I do know for Aug.. race I will be going back to my promise prep... its consist... Night Fury &Old Habits was on it at nationls... the other cars was on what I was trying....lol. I have a few new cars hoping they perform for me...

In my case the first run is always the worst. But the 2nd thru 4th are the fastest. I have wondered if that first run (even for re prep) is needed to break in or warm up the connected part's (i.e. oil, axle and bore) in some way. Maybe temperature, reciprocation, (i.e. break in) of touching parts, or something similar. I usually don't test past the 5th run, unless I'm having trouble with drift (steer) on the DFW. Incidentally, I have tried several methods of warming up the parts "off-track". NOTHING WORKED! Has anyone had any success with any derivative of this method? E.g. in the winter, my oil is cooler where stored, but I notice no difference between Winter and Summer runs, except I had to make some track adjustments at the joint, because I had some bulge in the summer that had to be eliminated.
