Sorry for the repetitive questions. I’m sure somewhere in this forum they’ve been mentioned. But after about an hr worth of searching I’d figured I’d just ask:

Grooved axles for oil?
Type of jig a loo. Orange can?
Same polish process as graphite for the axles prior to spraying with jig?

So I am still solidly in newb status so we want to hear a guru pro on this but I will take a stab...
yes yes and yes. And I would add cleaning the axles real good with alcohol as there will be residue both from the axle and from the polish. Scrub them with alcohol before hitting them with Jig. That was on advice from Reecedad and we both raced together over at APR last month and it worked well for me.
Hope that helps but again, let’s see a pro’s answer.

Seems easy enough. Thanks again.

One alternative I've used is Max Pro Silicone Lubricant. I learned about it from this forum.

I've won some Awana races with Max Pro, but where 0.001 matters, I think the pros use Jig.

You can also buy Max-Pro at Microcenter.

It's neat stuff. Pony Express says it's as fast as Jig (I don't have any real data to support/disprove this). It's also pretty mild, and doesn't have a nasty chemical smell (safer for scouts!). Finally, you can use it as a "quickie" prep on your bores, if you don't have time for the wax-buff-cure cycle.

Jig has a kind of sweet...maybe "flowery" smell? Can't quite place it, but it's not a paint thinner smell like SailKote. That stuff smells like urethane auto paint.

It's the perchloroethylene which gives the sweet smell, its the same stuff they use at the drycleaner.
