This video is amazing. I still don't know which end of the car is the front. You need to check this out!

What do I win after I've watched the whole video? I feel like I lost a few IQ points trying to follow along with this....

I like the video. He did a lot of research and is breaking down the build very nicely, but, there is a lot of DW theory that will not pan out on the track. He should become a member here and we can help him build a faster car...

It was a nice video and will be helpful to scouts. I have all the tools he was using, they all just gather dust now. Everyone seems to be charged with having to go through this progression. I agree with Ed in that those techniques will not translate well to league racing. If a guy decides to take the next step into League racing, he'll need better techniques and tools.

The back of the car is the end he was holding when he put the shopkin on. My daughter has tons of those. I showed her a clip of the video, she thinks its awsome. Lol. I hope she doesn't want to build one like it.

Yeah same here. I'm no expert by any means in the PWD world. I still have a great deal to learn. But I've never heard that one before. I'd like to see it go down the track in person. Seems like their would be alignment and steer issues.

There but for some good fortune that might have been my build. Last year with twin Lion scouts I was thrust into PWD. Armed with DW tools and a book on making a fast car from my scout shop, and a series of youtube videos on making an I-beam car we muddled through pack and district with 1st and 2nd place. Then we discovered PWDRacing and coming in 6 hundredths behind Lightening boy, Microbrush and others I realized we had a lot to learn. Thanks to folks at PWDR and forums such as this one this year the boys were 1st and 2nd for Tigers in den, pack, district, council and oil at MidAmerica, with 1st and 5th in MidAmerica graphite. +1 to HurriCrane’s assessment regarding the learning curve in this sport. It takes some effort and error to sift the good information from the bad and then even more work to master the good.

I see the problem as being ego.
I restore $100,000 Chris Crafts and Garwoods, I have won several 1st place showings for my boats. When I started I thought there's no issue here, how difficult could it be it's a 5 ounce car. If I could build a winner when I was 9, 10 and 11 then I can make a winner now.
I browsed tools that I thought I needed before I build 1 damn car!
The thing I learned after our first year was I lacked knowledge not skills. We placed 3rd in districts that first year. Since the finding the fountain of kmowledge we have taken first in both pack and districts 4 years in a row. Also took 2nd overall in oil at Mid America this year. (with help from some friends!)
All the info on the web is not true! He should listen and learn before publishing his PWD memoirs. I'll never get those minutes back!
