Helped my Great nephew with his Wolves entry PWD car last week! Monday night they had their races and he never lost a race! First race he won by 2 feet and his closest race was by a foot. He'll go to Districts late February.

My sister said she kept having Dads come up to her asking how they did it. She told them they had to keep it a secret. They even re-inspected the car twice! All parts came from the box per the Pack's rules. The wheel #'s even got written down at distribution.

My nephew was so excited I couldn't understand him on the phone! All I heard was I won, I won!

My sons race Thursday, wish us luck!

Isn't it funny that the winners almost always are looked at by some people as a cheat.....as if there needs to be some kind of grand jury indictment? My son won the pack last week and we are already hearing through the grapevine that some think I made the car and some think we bought the car online.

What's next? The need for videotape evidence that everything is legit?

The rules get interpreted in different ways. If everything has to come directly from the box, then I guess the kid with yellow wheels gets disqualified, right?

Graphite doesn't come in the box!!! Weights don't come in the box!! Paint doesn't come in the box!! If you can add those things, then who is the PWD police that determines what you can and cannot add?!?!

......I can provide the video tape evidence, BTW..........that's what's so funny......waiting to see if it comes to that.....LMAO

Congrats! And good luck tomorrow!

At my sons Pack race I had a mother demand that my son was disqualified and that the car was completly illegal....They inspected the car again and told her the car was ok!

So what was that mother complaining that the car needed to be disqualified for? I am sure her son was the next in line for winner or maybe placing had she got her way. People like that can never be satisfied, there kids are always better than everyone else even when they are not and most of the time the kids could care less about what just happened. I love seeing how absurd people act when stuff like this comes up.

Congratulations MOFAST!

SoGone you are so correct. It's a never ending soap opera of disgruntled parents acting out poor sportsmanship! If they would just take the time, do the research, and teach their son about pinewood derby, like they did for fishing or hunting, the Cub Scout World would be a more peaceful and better place. Ain't hold'n my breath on this one.

Hey, where is a picture of your new sub 3 car???

I think this was a fairly new, unorganized Pack, without experienced Scouters or Scout parents. At my own pack (I am a cubmaster), we have cut nights, tune and test nights, and provide a lot of help and information. This removes a lot of the accusations, they see what we do, if they want to do the same they have to put the work in. This also makes our Pack very competitive (in a good way), our races are close, and rarely does someone win all thier races. 18 hours until race time, I can't wait!

MOFAST!!!!!! CONGRATS
clap
That is way cool .. Please let us know how the pack does in a few hours .... Keep up the Great Work with the PWD race improvement you do with your pack!!

I understand the drama thing I to had taken pics of my son building his car.. Everyone thought I did it.. I posted my son's progress on my FB account which the Den leader is on. She put a stop to that issue. Also parents questioned the car that did win.. sad to say these cars were low 4 second cars my son was in this time frame.. His dad did not build his car either.. Derby Drama Momma when their kids do not win..... My son had a blast and didn't care about the loss as some other boys again as in a privous post they all gave high 5's to the winners..
That was my victory seeing the boys congratulate each other..

@railrunner....The funny thing is her son didn't even race my son, different grades...She claimed that my car was not made out of a pine block because it was so thin and the wheels looked illegal.just because I put graphite on the steer wheel!

The car was built by a friend and his wife for a Cub Scout Open Class, coming up this Saturday.

I gave some tips and he was a good student.

Get used to it guys...every year you and your son win it will get worse!! unfortunate

After our Pack races last year, I made a point of helping any scout/dad that requested any and set up track testing times and workshops. Only one pair came forward. They won their division at Districts (my son won his division too).

Our pack race is tomorrow. I fear we may not win the Pack trophy... To pseudo-quote Star Wars, "I have taught you well, young Jedi."

The AWANA Grand Prix was Wed. night. My daughters took first and third with cars we started on Sunday evening. As the trophies were announce, one of the scout moms turned to me and said sarcastically, "Well, that's surprising that your kids would win." (Fortunately she was smiling).

How COOL Crash ... Congrats
clap
to your Daughters wins........ Hope all goes well tomorrow for everyone ....

Keep em rolling fast ......

My son's AWANA race is in a couple of weeks. He is now in the painting phase of the build.

We were asked by a friend who knows about my son's racing achievements to come to a build workshop this afternoon and help the other kids. I'll go and help as much as I can without giving up top secrets. I'll just stick to the basics and try to relay some of the fine info you folks have provided to us over the last year or two.
