I picked one of these up last week. It has the three holes drilled in the back to dial in the COG. I was just courious what you all think of this design and weight placement plan? This is my first PWD so I'm just not sure what to expect.

Thanks!

This is the car, we had someone in our pack run this car this year, it did fairly well and they did use the adjustable weights from pine car as well. On our 32' wood track his car ran very respectable. He won his den but not the Grand Champion. That car was a car length a head. With the proper polishing of the wheels and axles and some smooth paint I think you will be very competitive at your race. Best of luck! can you use oil?

No oil just graphite. I actually cut out the front to look more like an Indy car and rounded the back off. If my COG is spot on do I need to worry about the front bouncing around much?

First off, welcome!! You have come to the right place for the worlds best pwd advise! Albeit that is a nice car, your best bet would be to visit derbydad4hire.com & purchase a pre cut thin wedge body, & some tungsten cubes. You'll be able to get a whole bunch of weight in his car thus increasing the speed, especially if you get some whls & axles to go along with the car. Daddios wedge cars only weigh about .500 to .510 ozs. As opposed to the car you have which is probably over 1.5 ozs. Please understand I ain't knocking your car or the vendor, just letting you know that there is a HUGE difference between DD4H products & the other vendors!!! Best of luck to you, & again WELCOME!!!

Just getting the COM correct will not keep the car stable going down the track. A good COM and the correct steer is what will keep the car stable down the track. Usually the COM is adjusted to allow for as little of steer as possible for a good smooth rum.

Thank you! Everyone is so helpful on this forum which is why I signed up with it. 0.5 ozs... WOW! The modified and painted Stealth currently weights in at 1.29 ozs. I have seen several photos of wedges with the block weights and after your post things are getting more and more clear. Less wood = more tungsten = speed! Next year it's wedge all the way!

I'm on derbydad4hire right now but can't find the wedge cars mentioned above. Can someone please post a link?

You can select this with no weight, axles, wheels etc and just buy the wedge, but like Kinser said, I just buy the drilled block and cut my own wedge.

Its in the build a car section, just mark all the"fields required" spots with whatever you want, if you only want the wedge cut body just mark all the other places "none" if you have any problems ordering, just call him & he will help you out with anything you need!!! Take care, & you are correct..more weight in the car means more speed.
