So since I have started racing, I have heard and read that if you want to be able to win you gotta race live. So I did a little result checking and I am amazed at how many proxy racers we have here win classes or compete at the top level. It truly is a testament to how incredible talented group of racers we have. And as the league continues to grow I can't wait to see who's coming on the horizon. Keep them coming, cause I ain't going to let up any, and one of these days I will catch you all!

It takes just as much time, effort and intelligence to build a bullet proof container as it does to make and tune the car. Guys that consistently run at the top have both figured out. I have a separate cradle for each car I race unless it's a plank style body. (universal fit)

I buy pencil boxes at Wal-mart for $.99 and put the cradle in it. I mount the cradle from the underside with 2 wood screws. Tape up the pencil box and stick it in a well padded 12 X 12 Priority Mail Box. I can ship 4 cars per box. If any of you would like to see my container system email me and I'll send you some pix.

I would say even the best container won't make you immune from losing a wheel or axle occasionally. A car with wide wheels and needle axles is the worst for an accident. I think the shock from a sudden stop (you know the kind when a box is tossed and it hits the floor) is what does the axles in. The weight and mass of the wheel comes down against that tiny axle and shears it off. You guys don't have to worry about that...............NO STINKIN NEEDLES HERE! As much as I like to race needles, I think they will be history next season at PWDR the way the poll is going. Easy to get speed with needles, but more difficult to work on. Patience, and a good set of hands and eyes are a must.
ok

When I think of proxy racers some guys immediately come to mind. BnB, DaPine, Carolina Gravity Sports, 5 Kids, Spirit, DD4Hire.....when he lived in NC and raced in UT! I'm sure I missed a few, but these guys are standouts in my opinion.

AMEN DADDIO!! YES, THERE IS AN ADVANTAGE TO BEING ABLE TO STAGE YOUR OWN CARS, WE ALL KNOW THAT, BUT THE DELIVERY FOLKS SEEM TO FIND A WAY TO ELIMINATE THE PROXY ISSUE. MY CARS ARE SLOW ENOUGH, THEY DON'T NEED ANY HELP IN THAT AREA.LOL. BUT I MYSELF HAVE WON A FEW PROXY RACES. THERE IS NO BULLET PROOF CONTAINER, MY 4 CARS THAT MADE IT TO THE HALLOWEEN HAVOC RACE, DIDN'T DO WELL AT ALL, NEITHER DID THEY RETURN TO ME THE SAME AS THE LEFT. I COULD SEE IMMEDIATELY THAT THE BOX THAT JOHN SHIPPED BACK HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AFTER,AFTER,AFTER IT LEFT HIS CARE. HE DID HIS JOB!! THE US!!!!!PS BROKE ONE CAR AND BENT AN AXLE ON ANOTHER. BUT THAT IS NOT DADDIOS, NOR MY FAULT. IT'S JUST A RISK WE TAKE TO DO WHAT WE LOVE. BUT, GET KNOCKED DOWN 12 TIMES, GET BACK UP 13!!!

I HOPE MY RESPONSE WASN'T MISINTERPRETED. I WAS AGREEING WITH JOHN. BUT WITH ALL THINGS BEIG SAID, THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING LIVE OVER PROXY ARE GONNA ALWAYS BE THE SAME..SHIPPING/STAGING. THE 2 S', IF THE CARS GET TO THE RACE WITHOUT BEING HURT, THEN STAGING IS WHERE THERE MAY..OR ACTUALLY MAYNOT BE AN ADVANTAGE. EXAMPLE: AT THE CFC RACE, I WITNESSED GOATBOY STAGE A CAR TO EXACT SPOT THE RACER WANTED VIA A PHONE CALL WHILE HE WAS STAGING THE CAR, I BELIEVE THE CAR WAS A TICK SLOWER THAN WHAT IAN HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE SAME CAR DURING PREVIOUS RUNS. GOAT DID AN AWESOME JOB THAT DAY STAGING CARS!!
BUT, ON THE OTHER HAND, I WAS PRIVALEDGED TO BE ABLE TO STAGE JOHNS CARS STARTING IN THE SS FINALS WHERE JUST BECAUSE I HAD WATCHED HIM STAGE 1000S' OF TIMES IN NC, I KNEW WHERE HE PROBABLY WOULD POSITION HIS CARS. AND HIS SS WAS .0104 FASTER THAN HIS FASTEST PASS IN THE PRELIMS..BUT AGAIN, THATS BECAUSE I HAD A GOOD IDEA HOW TO STAGE THE CAR. DOES THIS MEAN YOU CANT WIN VIA PROXY???? THERE IS NO DEFINATE YES OR NO ANSWER. IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO ME AT LEAST, TO KNOW THAT YES, YOUR CHANCE WILL SOMETIMES BE BETTER TO STAGE YOUR OWN STUFF, BUT NOT ALWAYS. OH, WELL..TAKE CARE EVERYONE!!

I have been lucky to attend live on quite a few races this year. I'm not near as fast as most of y'all (yet). I have never staged my own car at the races. During tuning I've tried staging many different ways and aparently have not figured out the art of staging yet. The stagers always get my car faster than I can on my own. They do a great job!

I insure my cars both directions. I have collected three times, 2 because of crushed boxes that broke the Unlimited wheels, and once because they were late.
UPS paid off immediatly.

THAT'S THE THING THOUGH. IN ORDER TO INSURE, IF USING USPS, YOU CANNOT WAIVE THE SIGNIATURE UPON DELIVERY...PER JOHN'S REQUEST. SO I ALWAYS WAIVE THE SIGNIATURE AND 95% OF THE TIME THERE IS NO ISSUES. BUT LIKE LAST MONTH, 2 CARS WERE HURT IN RETURN SHIPPING. NOT BY ANYTHING JOHN DID, JUST THE FACT THAT THE RETURN SHIPPING FOLKS ARE BIG FANS OF DODGEBALL AND MY BOX WAS THE BALL. IT'S ALL GOOD THOUGH, NOT ONE TIME HAS DADDIO EVER NOT REPLACED ANYTHING THAT GETS MESSED UP..NO ONCE!!

If one had the the ability to race live or proxy, I would say that it is better to race your cars live if you really know how to stage your cars. Additionally, some linear perfluoro oils will not last from the time of shipping to race day, especially on 1 gram wheels.
