Hey folks,
Just dawned on me that I see pos cant on DFW but also the use of bent axle for the steering. Last year I just used the existing slots and had my axle canted downward and adjusted for proper steer. Worked real well and no wiggle on either kids cars. But now I am wondering if I drill to get the wheel just a tad forward do I drill level hole and use the axle bend for everything else? Pos cant and then the steering?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!!! I will start looking through pics too.

Not to sure what you would gain by drilling the hole like that but something just clicked . I’m almost willing to bet it would be useful! Less bend in the axle and forward drill might be better . I have drilled the front holes a 1/16” higher than the rears to help compensate for the raise in front when tuning the dfa. It helps the keep the front and rear of the car more parallel to the track. Where I’m struggling is how to keep the streamline front end I want and keep the bottom of the car flat. I know other builders are doing this but how they do it without cutting the bottom of the car is beyond me. From what I understand you need to keep the bottom of the car flat so the car nose doesn’t lift and air pushes down and over the top.

The only time i have ever heard of this is with johns plug n play blocks, i think somebody was trying to add more steer or something. Maybe a pro can chime in here but i was led to believe it is possible to do but will probably make for fussy finicky tuning. Could be wrong but I dont see the benefit in doing it intentionally, to me it seems the same as drilling your rears at 2 degrees and then bending the axles 1 degree. With a straight drill for the dfw the bend in the axle should provide everything you need.

Thanks for the advice guys! So then in short going with a straight drill and just relying on the bend for the positive cant and steer is the way to go then...
Can’t wait till I can afford a jig!!! :p

I'm no expert but I do it and I haven't had to bend an axle to get the drift I need. I find the slight bend that's always in an axle is enough with the two angle drill. I cut a tuning groove and I'm usually good in 3-5 passes on the board.I also have a fixture to drill the rears .

Thanks again for your input. Here back when I wrote this post I was hoping to have that drill jig. Yep, still no jig. Lol But I have been working on the concepts you sent me and they helped me see what you meant a lot.
Looking at my post from last year I have learned quite a bit and received a lot of help.
Our Awana cars come back faster each year. :)
