Race Results!

[MOFAST]

Youngest son Hunter's car Crush was first in Bears for our Pack's PWD tonight! Ran a close race and just barely beat the racer that beat us last year. Had the fastest heat of the day and track record twice!

Oldest son Tyler's car ran an even closer race and barely won Webelos 1! His car picked up a wiggle since test/tune and slowed down .03. Still won!

In the pack championship race, youngest won pack champion, and older brother won second! Both boys will move on to districts in 2 weeks. As proud as I am of the boys, I was even prouder when I saw the sportsmanship and sensitivity they showed to their fellow racers.

Third year in a row to districts!

Well, the person in charge of ordering the trophies ordered them late so we had no trophies to hand out. The boys have to wait until the next den meeting to get their trophies. I am the PWD chairman and I sent an email 2 weeks asking if they had been ordered and was assured they had been. This was not the case. He tried to order Monday, three days before the race. So, no trophies got handed out.

As the chairman I was embarrassed and very disgusted. I had to apologize in front of a room full of people and look like a jerk. Kids didn't seem to care but I was so mad I couldn't speak. I talked to him the day before the race and he assured me they were done. He didn't even tell me they didn't come in, he was too embarrassed. I found out while we were setting up. I was off all day Thursday and could have gone to the Scout shop and bought trophies or something! Anyway, boys won, I was proud of them, but it ruined my night.

NO Worries MOFAST, In my Packs infinite wisdom they don't give out trophies at the races, yeah I know. They got the bright idea to give them out at the Blue and Gold at the end of Febuary. Why, so they can receive all their awards at the same time, I say *&*% to that. I'm not on the committee, so I got no say. I just think its stupid. The PWD is a separate event from the B&G and should be treated as such. Well either way, enough of my RANT!!!

Be glad that trophies are on the way. Leaders at our pack this year decided to hand out a medal for 2nd and 3rd!? The trophies last year were much larger and pretty nice, but I think their push this year was to make it all about working with your scout and enjoying the process and not the end result. Still, for the two little ones that got 2nd & 3rd, it would've been nice to have given them some hardware IMO.

My pack does the same, but they do it to get the trophies personalized.
