Well despite the local girl scouts "borrowing" our Boy Scout District's race track for their own race....they have decided NOT to use our new District Rules that allow the use of Krytox(mostly due to our old race coodinator not liking or understanding the use of Krytox) and only allowing "Dry Lubes only". Anyways.....my daughter is dual registered in CUb Scouts and Girl Scouts and last weekend WON overall in our Pack with her Krytox lubed car. Last year during her Girl Scout district race she almost won the whole event.....being beat out by .002...on a old track with hand operated non spring loaded gate. Her car runs the 93tx axles and Dynasty Rage wheels.....I hate using graphite so I was thinking of cleaning the oil off the axles and wheels.....re polishing the wheels with the Black ICe kit and re polishing axles and simply prepping the axles with my DuPont Chain saver which is a Dry Lube with Teflon as stated on the can. So do you think with properly polished wheels and this axle prep only her car would run close to her current 3.05-3.07 range? Last years car ran 3.15 so we've made a good improvement and would like to stay like her current times as I'm sure it would be the winning car.

Also can anyone point me to some real informative articles about the superiority of Krytox/oil lubes......got some old timers in this district that won't listen to my logic about it. Showing them some good articles would probably help. Thanks.

Funny how often the reasoning is not wanting the “mess” of oil when in fact graphite is 100 times messier than properly used oil.
Since BSA condones and sells Krytox you’d think they would get the hint. Agree with Mojo... those set minds probably won’t change. That’s unfortunate.

Seems the old pinewood derby chair has complained to District committee that we changed the rules ( how dare us after all I'm only the Pinewood Derby chair) So I've decided to fight back with evidence lol. My plan of attack is I have made a survey sheet for all racers to mark off if they like the rule change or not (so far his is the only complaint I've heard)...furthermore I am taking my video camera and a box of tissue paper to the races..
During check in I will ask them if using graphite or oil....then roll each car on the tissue paper and video record the results....wonder which ones will look dirtiest the graphite ones or oil lol

i know this and I mentioned this on another thread a couple weeks ago... our churches Awana Grand Prix is very lenient but of them all I am the only one who uses oil. They all use graphite and after a day of racing my kids cars and mine, the wheels are all coated on the treads with graphite. There is actually an Awana district race out here in MI where they ONLY allow oil. lol
I hope you succeed!!!

Our pack follows the districts rules which allows the use of oil. But I'd say 90+ percent still use graphite. Don't understand why they are stuck on graphite. Even a poor job of doing a oil setup is as good as a good graphite and it lasts much longer.
