I still get Jiggy with it!! After the beat down Ponyexpress put on us I'm sure his lube of choice will be fly'n off the shelf when and if it become public knowledge.

I think Pony Express uses some of that magic dental fluoride that he uses to shine folks teeth with. I think that is the secret to his speed. Plus those awesome tools dentists have.

On the Lube that Pony Express is using, at times it's leaking onto the Track. I'd like to know what it is, so I could tune with it on the tread my wheels

In the DVD from DD4H he mentions not letting the spray haze the axel. When I use the jig, they are always hazy. Is this a problem and how would I avoid it?
Thanks! Now I can stop driving myself nuts trying to prevent the haze. Next is to figure out why my reprep is never as fast as new parts.
How many runs and what type of track are you on before re prep? The plastic on the tread gets dirty and pitted. Are you cleaning them and lightly sanding the contact areas of the treads?
I do clean the wheels with alcohol but did not sand the contact area. I have some work to do on my track also. I have noticed that with DD4H wheels with inner edge bevel are getting chipped up. Must have a joint out of line but cannot locate the culprit yet. I do not see this damage on other wheels.

I know this is an old thread but I could use some help. I ordered the DD4H DVD and watched it last night. I need to polish the axles (and wheels, and oil the car) - preferably tonight. It's unclear to me what I should be using as a replacement for the blue can and whether things have changed in the couple years since. From the thread I'm guessing the jig is the substitute, but given the lack of retailers and the fact that my daughter's race is this weekend I don't think I'll be able to use it even if it is the best substitute. Is there a next best option? I see 3M dry silicone spray mentioned above in one post. Again, I'm not sure this is the right info, and given a couple years have passed things may have changed again. If someone can pm me the best substitute for the blue can I'd appreciate it.
I think given your situation, I would use the 3M spray. The fastest guy here said it was a good substitute, and at the scout level you should have no problem leavin them in the dust. /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif Just be sure to follow all the other tips for alignment and weight etc. Best of luck and keep us posted!!!
I agree with Chief, but if the 3M will not arrive on time, SailKote (black can found in most local boat supply stores) works really well too. However, much like Jig, you need to spray the axles and let it sit for awhile (a few hours) to make sure the accelerant evaporates or it will melt your wheels.

The Dupont Chain Lube is the same formula as the old blue can and can usually be found at Lowes. The new blue can is different, it stays wet, I wouldn't recomend it.
