While cleaning up my work area I came across a set of Eliminator wheels. They are 0.9 gram Derby Worx (oops) wheels. Should I put them on a body and send it to the Nationals? Perhaps the extra wheel weight on a 63 foot track might be good!
Ok ... The car is built and is mailing out Saturday morning with my other cars. Spent all morning prepping the wheels. I had to use the non-grooved axles that came with the DW wheels. The hubs on these wheels are so short that they would partially run in the grooves on a traditional axle an bind up. So I spent even more time prepping axles. Not sure if this car will be competitive but it was a fun build. Any guesses on the average time it will run or what place it will finish? Car name is: Trunk Sloth, purple paint with white wheels. A picture is posted on JBD Racing Facebook page.
Well... Hopefully I didn't totally embarrass myself at the Nationals with my car Trunk Sloth and DW wheels. I am a bit surprised that the car did not finish dead last though! Hopefully I did not drag down any other cars that were in the same heats.
If I can find some grooved axles that fit these wheels (the hubs are really short and partially ride in the groove of BSA axles) I think there is some speed to be gained. Probably not winning speed but more.
