Show Off Your Street Rods!

I had built a Street Rod last month and regret not sending it in, I had a tune session that tuned any and all speed out of the thing. but I think i have a respectable build as far as speed for this month, so I will introduce, "Dirty Dog."

Fumbles, your daughter takes after you, she's got skills! She can paint almost as good as me!
blah

ChiTown Hustler body repurposed with John Cerchio's "WarPath" decals modified to fit. I just love that Indian head wearing a nitro mask.

Work in progress....Who doesn't love a Jungle Jim car?!?! (Especially when accompanied by Jungle Pam...)

Painting & decaling is one thing but chassis building is best left to D4D ! I'm rather slow when it comes to building a street rod chassis.

Coming up...

Maybe I need to send a car body over to you so that you can decal it for me... /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

Do you guys have any tips for installing the windows? I haven't completed a model since middle school, but I remember my windows always looked like crap. Glue, paint, knife marks. I could never keep them nice.

I think most guys here will tape in the windows, while others may glue them in. I prefer to glue them in, but the CA glue or modeling glues usually attacks the window and crazes it. I use G-S Hypo Cement and it doesn't craze the clear windows. I does take a bit longer to set up though, but it dries clear.

Tony does very nice work !! Got to look over his cars in person earlier this week and I was really impressed ! Fact is though - I used to watch a lot of those guys race when I was growing up and hanging around cars. That's one more reason why I really love this class.

I'll post a pic tomorrow of the glue that I use but it's basically the Windowmaker Glue. It won't craze the clear plastic like super glue will.
If you are going to use the original windshield I just run a bead of that blue around inside where you lay the windshield and once you drop it and place it stays glued in nicely.
If you are going to make your own windows out of lighter material just use the windshield as a pattern to trace out a new design

I'm not going to try to be a stickler here but some of you guys are skirting this rule.

Original windshields, roofs, doors, fenders, grills, hoods, trunks and main body parts must be used (No chopping up, stretching, piecing together or hacking the body). No drilling out or cutting holes in the back of the car. Tail lights need to be attached.

I'll concern myself with it when you start smokin' me. Until then, roll easy! /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif
