I don't think the wheels are always to blame. I have 3 SS cars and no matter how I move the wheels around between them the time differences are always pretty much the same. What has taken me to the next level in the SS is the setup and prep. There is a lot more to making a fast SS car than the proper amount of steer. Everything effects everything. If you are hitting a wall in speed don't expect to find more speed by doing the same thing over and over. I'm going to give you guys a HUGE hint here. The non dominate wheel has a lot more to do with speed than you think. Ill just leave it at that for now.

I'll bite.

Why would the gap on the NDFW matter? If I build my car right (that's a loaded statement), the NDFW should never touch. I never thought that had anything to do with speed. In fact, I really do not spend all that much time prepping the NDFW or axle. They are just there for show. I guess I'm not sure what I'm missing.

you would be surprised what happens in the transition on the track. Also, the NDFW has a sweet spot for balance and wind drag. If you want to see what effect a NDFW has on your car. Pull it off and replace it with a guide pin and run it down the track. Your car will be .010 faster without it.

So the cars that run a 45 degree front tire don't have to worry about the tire touching the track. So it don't have to b slick like John said or is the slick ndfw the way to go?

Speed a lot can be learned from JB! In pwd everything matters! Every car has a sweet spot for the setup. I personally don't run the 45....if you don't slick is the way to go.
 
Why would the NDFW ever touch the track at all if the car has the correct amount of steer?

As a side note, I did order some guide pins to test the theory that the NDFW affects time. I still really do not know what to do with this information since I'm expecting that it never touches anything.
